I'm looking for a copy of an old mule deer bowhunting video called "too many bucks" . Does anyone here have a copy of this or know where I can find one?

I think NVMDF2 has one. I'll tell him your looking for it and have him get in touch with you if he can help you out.

Must have drawn the Ruby's? I have a copy, bought it used and worn out at an archery shop in Portland. If you can't get your hands on one I might be able to get you a "copy". I'll give you my copy for some good info on the Jarbidge units (071-079). Ed F

I spent hours watching that in high school and come to find out I just drew the area it was filmed in. I had an old worn out copy somewhere but I couldn't find it last night.

I watched that a few times years ago. Lots of fun, and really made me excited about chasing bucks in the high country. I have always wondered where it was filmed. In the video, they said that it was filmed "somewhere in the western United States", but gave no more details than that. My guess was somewhere along the Utah/Colorado border. Where was it filmed? A couple of you in this thread said "the Rubies". The only Ruby mountains I know of are in Montana. If you don't mind sharing the info, let me know. I am just curious. Someone could send me a PM if they don't want to make a honeyhole public.
Thanks,
Soup

Larry Jones and Dwight Schuh "Open Country Mule Deer" video was also filmed there. It's no secret. Ruby Mts NV. Ed F

A lot of things have changed since those vids were made. You aren't going to just drive up and walk into the country they were filmed in. If you do you better be in very good shape.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-17-05 AT 03:33PM (MST)[p]I hunted that area with the guy who produced the video TOO MANY BUCKS. It was filmed in the rubys and it is very rugged steep country. He still might have some videos available if you would like to e-mail him about getting one try.

The video is old but it shows how steep the country is and it was a classic in its day before computers took over and everyone could edit videos like now. It is one video alot of people still talk about.Tons of deer in the velvet up to 70 in a herd and both hunters take two nice bucks with bows.

The only time I have drawn a tag in Nevada was 1994 it was units 101-108 archery. The trophy qaulity was down that year but still plenty of bucks.Ted made the video of TOO MANY BUCKS a couple or three years before 1994.If I were you I would be looking to find private property owners that have land locked down low and pay them if you can to access into the high country or it will be a very rough hunt hiking in. When I went we used 10 pack goats and it was one rough area we hunted that year.I was young and did not want to pay landowners prices so we hiked in all the way. Believe me pay the money if you can it would be worth not killing yourself before you even start hunting.
Good luck on your hunt this year should see some nice bucks Still alot of snow pack up high as of last weekend.

I have it. Send me your home address and I'll loan it to
you. I also have the Larry D. Jones video also one produced
by Bob McGuire. I'll see if I can find them all.

I also know that area (East Humbolts) well, as well as the rest of the Rubys. I'll help you out with your scouting, as I have a muzz. tag.
