I was sent this pic claiming that it went 419 what do you guy's think. The fourths are nice but I was thinking more around 320-340

I did some calculations and it does look to be a 400 inch bull. But the guy would have to be 7?6? and 385 lbs.

Only 1 browtine is longer than 12 inches. 15 on the thirds and 12 on the 5ths. 50 inch beams, and one awesome sword with the other normal. Normal mass also. 360 requires long beams and long fronts with everything else normal. I would say 330 maybe. But any bull with a sword like that should be shot im my opinion.

That bull is not even close to 350, much less 400. Thanks to the one long 4th he might gross 330, but will probably net around 320. A nice bull but he's simply too thin horned (too little mass), too short in the main beam, and too short tined (with one obvious exception) to break into the mid 300's. Sadly, it also looks like a bit of wasted neck meat and maybe enough hide to mount the head and half of the neck. Hopefully he was just going for a Euro mount...I think the 400" score is right on par with the cape job, i.e., not nearly enough to get the job done...

Still a shooter in my book. Congrats to the hunter but the scorer needs his head checked.

Looks like 99% of you scorers just look at it and guess the score. You should try putting the numbers together it helps a little more. So lets see your numbers or do you not know how to really score a bull? I usually underscore by 10". Oh and so that you know 12" and 13" = crappy fronts.

I think the scorer made the common mistake of adding Maximum Outside Spread 45 (approx), and Tip to Tip 36 (approx). That makes total 398.

Yep, you are right about 12 and 13 inch fronts being weak. I will only give him 50 inches of total mass. I will also only give him 50 inch beams. I don't know why, I just feel 50 is the max. 24 would definitely do for the sword. He may push 350. I know he will go mid 320's for sure though. I always go with what I know they will score. I knew the bull I shot this year would go 305. I still don't agree with the tape stretchin to 340. My wifes bull on the caldera measures 330 and I swore it would go at least 350. I suck at scoring.

Yep crappy fronts for sure when you try to call it a 400 bull.
As far as guessing the score, i prefere to do it by eye as it is a little easier in the field is it not??

I don't know where you are getting your measurements but I know of a bull that had much longer fronts, more mass but comparable 4ths, 5ths and 6ths that will gross around 340. This bull is below that.
