How are the OTC elk hunters doing in 33? Just curious since I've got a 3rd season tag? Any info is welcomed.

Thanks

Fuzzy-
My buddy and I just returned from western 33 area....public land DIY...BLM....We took a 5x5 and 5x6....100% on the elk....but an absolute MF'er to access legally....

Tons of hunters as usual....1 out of 10 dudes successful (as usual...maybe less this year)...pumpkins everywhere, especially lined up next to private land....it's really a sight to be seen....but the minute a gun goes off and ATV's ride around....there go the elk...

Pressure from the western White River pushes all of the elk to private land (or very steep/difficult to glass dark timber)....either way, it takes a trespass fee to be successful in 33 anymore (MZ,Bow and 1st rifle is another story)....There is NO place that is left uncovered in the White River....There are vehicles everywhere...the elk stampede occured on the 1st day of the 2nd season...I would highly suggest opening the wallet and paying Rocky Mtn Ranches (or someone) to access land...

There are some interesting spots I've studied on the BLM maps above Glenwood Springs (it looks remote) but there are still those red-dashed vehicle trails criss-crossing around the map...so my guess is if a jeep can get in there, people are hunting it...

May the force be with you-
