Utah elk late rifle vs. Muzzleloader

Just curious what you guys think about the muzzleloader hunts vs. late rifle. I have no problem with hunting with a muzzleloader - I am curious about how spooky the elk are, broken up antlers, migrated to private land etc. Units I usually apply for include fishlake and book cliffs.

Some years I apply bow but in yeas I have other hunts scheduled I cannot take enough vacation to effectivly bowhunt so I apply for muzzleloader (but I am debating rifle) to fit my schedule. I have enough points I will draw in the next few years.

Thanks, Don

PS It seems to me like the muzzleloader hunts would be much better, less spooky elk, more rutting etc.

With these seasons being the last two hunts of the year, they are very spooky. They have been chased since mid Sep. I am doing Muzz hunt now for spike and it is hard. Once the weather came in though I have had two chances but could not get a clean shot. Tomorrow is my last hope. I love to Muzz hunt so that's my pick. Makes hunting more of a challenge.

If I am not mistaken, Don is talking about the LE elk hunts and not the late season Utah ML elk. The ML LE elk season will be the last week of September and the first couple of days of October. Rutting bulls and no full moon equals great hunt on most Utah LE elk units. Just my .02.

Yes LE hunts, I was pretty sure it was muzzleloader, not to mention I would rather hunt with a muzzleloader, after bowhunting it seems "easy" and gives me much better draw odds.
