Either the 400 inchers were just kept more quiet this year, or the 500 incher took away all the limelight!!
I personally know of a few "kept under wraps", but usually by now our count is up to about a dozen or so.

I know of four, two Northern, one central and one Southern. I know of about 15 that were pushing 400 but did not quit cut it over the past several years.

Who cares about 400" bulls now. 500 inchers are the new benchmark anything under that is just a 400 incher, I have several 400 inchers but not one of them compare to my 500 incher that was named the "RANCHINATOR" he's grandfather to Spidey LOL.

Okay, maybe the question should be: Will there be any 420 plus bulls next year if a nimrod got lucky enough to either buy a certain tag or draw an LE tag?

I know of one and he is still alive. I have a pic of his genetic line. He was shot 4 years ago and scored in the 420's.

You might be interested to know that the DWR takes samples from Management bulls for DNA mapping. They want to trace elk and group them in "families". I think this is partially so that they can trace the probable origin or area where a bull would have been. It would help in illegal kills where a bull is really killed in one area by someone that has a tag for an area somewhere else. Just another way to keep hunting honest.

RE: Utah 400" bulls.

I will let the DWR know where this one is at after I draw the tag and he is on the ground :)

RE: Utah 400" bulls.

Berryblaster, wasatch bull is a 6 on one side and 8 on other side, not one you are talking about. Very cool bull, I will post if I get permission. I also have a bull that will be officially scored this week that is looking to go between 440-450. HOG!!!!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-18-08 AT 04:46PM (MST)[p]monarchtaxidermy,

Understood. It is out of control. You are a taxidermist; you see a lot of BULL. Do you think spider is legit? If you don't want to say I totally understand. I have seen a lot of bulls in my years and this one just doesn't seam right.

Like I said, if you have no opinion I understand, reputations are at stake here.
