I am new to this, but I just thought I would share this bull with everyone. He is not monster, but what a thrill it was calling him in with my dad and brother. I got him the second week of the season, but here is the story. We were going into the second weekend and it was looking as if this was going to be one of our best seasons. Bulls were bugling everywhere and it seemed that the wolves weren't going to be in the picture this year. Anyways, we hiked up the mountain right at shooting light and as soon as my dad bugled one answered probably a half a mile up the mountain. So, we slowy made our way to him, bugling every now and then just to make sure we knew where he was. Once we got within 200 yards he shut up. We figured he had taken his cows and left, so we high-tailed it to where we had last heard him and bugled and shockingly he answered probably 70 yards in front of us. All three of us got set up, and it wasn't 30 seconds later when we saw legs walking through the trees. I saw he was a 6X6 and as he slowly made his way to us, I drew (as did my dad, I would learn later) when he was 30 yards away. I was waiting for a shot, but he was walking right at me and I couldnt get a broadside shot until he was only 10 yards away(5 yards away from my brother). Thats when I let my arrow fly. It hit right behind his shoulder, and he piled up 50 yards away. It was an awesome hunt with my dad and brother by my side. As it would turn out, the wolves moved in the next weekend and pushed all the elk out of our area. It was pretty depressing seeing wolves run through the trees where there were elk just a week earlier. I hope I can get my hands on a tag soon.
