I am interested in finding out what information I can get about the deer units 60,61,77. This is the lower part of the state. What type of bucks live in this area? What type of terrain? How should I hunt this deer season? I need info please.
Thanks

Area 60 is limited quota and off limits unless you drew a tag. Area 60 is a good hunt, try the northern area of this unit. May also want to contact the Warren Livestock Company, I think they have lots of land on the northern border of the national forest, but I don't know about fees etc. There is alot of national forest also. Try the roadless area on top of the summit. The table mountain area is also good if you can get permission to hunt. The walk in areas should be available soon, so check out if there are any walk in areas around for that unit.

Area 61 and 77 are hard to hunt, with limited public land. The western part of area 77 may be worth a try, around Jelm Mountain.

how nice of a buck should i expect to see with allot of sweat and hard glassing? do you think there are a few bucks near 180? thanks for the info.MDB

There are definately bucks in the 180 class if not bigger in this area because of the limited pressure the area recieves and much of it being private land. I've seen some really nice bucks around the Crystal and Granite Reservoir areas, but access is limited. Your bigger bucks are probably going to be off the national forest because most guys with your tag will start there. Get a good BLM map of the area, because there are parcels of land that are BLM and State land that would be a good bet. BLM Office in Cheyenne can be reached at 307-775-6256. I remember a couple of years ago there was a picture in the Cheyenne paper of a guy killing a non-typical whitetail that scored something like 210 in that area, so there are some whitetails in the area as well.
