Gotta score in the mid to upper 190's. I see seven scoreable points on each side.

Congrats.

Im usually a little of on scoring, so tell us what he scores.

Good lookin' buck! Let's hear the story behind it.

Too bad we can't just see pictures and hear stories here anymore without some little fukstick jumping on everybody's back.

The story behind my prize : I had invited a friend of 20+ years from alaska to join me on a trophy deer hunt and we were able to draw an eastern plains unit that I knew well having hunted there several times. Ive gotten to know some landowners well over the years and stay in touch with them so I know whats happening in the area. I had also scouted several weekends before our hunt so that I felt confident in him having a hunt worth traveling several thousand miles for. We looked at many good bucks and passed them up including one that was a 26-27" 6x6 and very hard to pass on except that it was opening morning and I knew what I wanted this time around. Mon am at daylight I spotted this buck with 12-13 does in a feeding field. I put a spotting scope on him and immediately thru it in the back seat of the truck and said to my friend that I was going to kill this buck. He asked if he could look and I said, we don't have time, he wont stay where he is long and trust me he's big enough to shoot. (I forgot to say that hed already killed one sunday eve) I didnt let him look mainly because I already knew how dang big he was and didnt want the added pressure of him knowing it too, type thing. We pulled a long stalk on him since he was at least 1 1/2 miles away thru gulleys and ravines. When we got there he was gone, all the does were 80-100 yards below us straight down. We watched for over an hour and he never materialized in the thick brush. Although we watched 3 bobcats hunt together at the same time and saw many more incredible sights we never saw him again that day. The next am we were at the same place only this time from a totally different angle. We had figured that the only possible place he couldve escaped was into a crp field in the opposite direction that the does went. When we eased down the road in the truck to a safe viewing distance from the feeding field we stopped and he was there again. Even though it was still dark you could see the forms of deer out in the field. As I glassed I could immediately see the huge rack against the dark sky in the backround. I eased out of the truck that I had parked in the ditch and went under the fence while my buddy stayed and watched things unfold. I got thru the damn fence finally in the dark and belly crawled half way across the field thru the tall weeds. As it got lighter I could see them feeding my way and the does started heading for the steep canyons where they had gone the day before but the buck continued on coming my way. When he got to about 300 yards or so I felt comfortable that he was in the dead zone. He started acting real nervous all of a sudden and kept looking back in the direction of the truck and then at the does like he was confused as to which way to go so I let him have it. He went down in a heap when my 7mm went off, I layed there watching for awhile before standing. About the time I stood up so did he and away he went like crazy, I remember thinking to myself ive never seen a deer run this fast....ever. I kept thinking its just a last burst hes going down but he never did, he just kept hauling as*. I flopped back down on my belly and tried to swing the gun with him on the bipods but they didnt want to move much. The second shot at about 350 yards missed behind and I got to see the dust fly so I had a gauge to go by now. The third shot at about 400 yards hit him hard and he went out of sight right after. I ran back across the field and my buddy met me saying that he had lost sight of him about the time i shot last. We gathered up stuff quickly and ran across the field where he went. There was no sight of any deer anywhere at all. I got that sick feeling in my stomach that comes when you think youve wounded and lost an animal but we kept looking in all the little canyons that surrounded the field. As I was glassing for my wounded buck I heard a whistle from my buddy and he was franticly pointing towards the buck. When I looked back his headgear was sticking up above the yuccas about 200 yards behind us, he had let us run right past him laying there. I layed down again and put a final shot into him to end it. I dont know how or where this buck found it, but he had an incredible will to live. I have wanted a buck of this size every since I can remember and now that it was done it was really sad and yet awesome at the same time. Hope that wasnt the most boring story you ever heard, probably a little more exciting having been there. Gary

Awesome buck and great story...congrats on getting a toad!

Your going to need a good taxidermist after this and your upcoming sheep! Awesome buck. I drew out east a couple years ago and had a great time, cant wait to get back.

TTT,

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was actually referring to the onslaught of PUDs, that have adorned this place as of late...

EC1,

You gonna give us the #'s? ;)

To be honest Ive never scored him yet, I was told by someone who knows deer scoring very well that he's within a few points give or take of 210 non typical. Hes 33" outside cheater to cheater, 30" inside and has a very pretty low 190's main frame. Gary
