This is the new #2 Rocky Mountain archery bull in Oregon. Although it grosses more than the current record holder, it nets 2/8 of an inch less! In any case, a great Oregon bull killed on public land in South Central Oregon.

Do you have any more details about this bull? Which unit he came out of? I am curious as I began elk hunting the Interstate and Silverlake units as a kid. We took some good bulls out of there during the rifle seasons, but never could get it done on a good one during the bow hunts. Just curious if he came out of one of them. I haven't bbeen back down there with a tag in my pocket in several years and have heard that it isn't what it once was. If this bull came out of there, it would be nice to know that there are still some great ones running around down there.
"success Is Reason Enough!"

Interstate unit. You are correct, the elk herds are not very good. Just lots of scouting and this bull was hunted for over 3 years with only periodic trail camera pics to keep motivated. Low densities, hard hunting.

NICE BULL,
GLAD TO HEAR OF YOUR SUCCESS.ITS A BEAUTIFUL BULL.ANY INFO?
DID YOU BUGLE HIM UP,COW CALL OR SNEAK IN ON HIM.
SIMO

what was the gross? my buddy has the #1 archery typical bull. to me it lookes bigger gross and net.........;)

Tell your buddy to rest easy. Its 2/8 less than his net, but he grosses more than 393 as a straight six. Big is big to me, regardless of score. To answer the other question, I was doing some quiet calling and set up in a tree stand on a trail intersection when he came in with some cows and a calf. I have the whole thing on video and had been chasing him for years.

Congrats on your stud of a bull.

The elk herds are not very good in this area is putting it mildly. One could hunt several seasons without seeing an elk. There are a few good bulls down there though, just VERY low elk numbers. With all the press this bull has gotten, it will be interesting to see what happens to the draw odds for first season rifle hunt.

just messing with you, although your pictures dont do the bull justice. that is a friekin toad bull. one to be proud of for more than a lifetime!!

Ok, not here to dish on anyone. VERY nice bull....but I would like to know where you got that score? Official? It may be the picture, but this bull dont look like he would go much over 370". Am I missing something here guys? I video and guide in the best big bull units in Oregon, and this bull dont look like a 390" class bull.

I would agree, it doesn't look over 370, but the pic doesn't do justice. There are plenty of bulls in OR that are over 370 on both public and private land, but very few. During our pack trip this year we saw only 1 that would go over 340 and we couldnt get within 200yrds. It was opening weekend and mainly there to just scout for the last week of the season... Went back the last week and called in a few, but nothing over a rag horn. Shot and missed a nice 6X6.

Congrats to the hunter, thats a GREAT bull!
