Planning a cow elk hunt to Wyoming next fall.Has anyone used Hornady 150 grain interlok bullets out of a 30-06 on elk ?
That is what my rifle shoots most accurate .I will be hunting a ranch and shots will range from 100 to 300 plus yards.
I am shooting handloads 150 grain bullet on top of 58.5 grains of IMR4350 , very accurate load in my rifle.

I have used interloks for deer and they can come apart. Don't shoot an elk in general in the shoulder with them, but in the soft leathal areas it will work.

I think on a cow with it is no problem if a good placement.

I would have to agree, I have used interlocks on deer and they have always done their job, but they did come apart on several occasions. They would not be my first choice for elk. Can't beat the old reliable: nosler partitions. You can get newer and more "advanced" technolgy, but you can't beat them.

With the .06 try the 165 grain nosler accubonds.....worked great on my bull elk out of my .06.

I've killed a bunch of elk with the 30/06 except I use 180 grain Hornady Intercok. 56 grain of IMR4350. I killed them with shots on the shoulder & behind the shoulder.

I think you'll be OK with them. CB

I too have had the Hornady come apart and was thinking of maybe the Accubond or Barnes X bullets.

My dad shot his bull elk this year with a .270 and 150 Nosler Partition. The accuracy of this bullet was excellent out of his gun. They were Federal Premium factory loads. I have had deadly results using Nosler Partitions out of my own rifle. Hope this helps.

165 gr TTSX would get my vote. If you want to shoot 150s go with a tough bullet like the Barnes TTSX or TSX.

You would probably be all right going with the 180 grain interlock. But if you stay with the 150 grain, there are definately better options out there. I would not hesitate to use the 150-160 grain nosler partition on any elk walking
