Just wondering if anyone would like to make a guess as to how big this deer is? Thinking of "trying" to get him on the bow hunt. Sorry about the pictures it was a long was away.

Got to admit I got a little excited when he bedded down in the sage brush.

I'll tell you what, when you are done "thinking" about "trying" to take this deer, if you have decided NOT to do it, give me a call and let me know where he is. WOW! What a beaut!

It's hard to tell from those photo's, but if I had to guess..maybe 26 inches and in the 160-165 range...Maybe a little more. Nice buck!

I would pass on the buck -- looks like he might be a bit sick. I am considered an expert on Mule Deer health and I would be more than willing to go and look at the deer for a diagnosis if you would like -- all I need are the GPS coordinates.

In all seriousness, that is a huge buck. Mass is hard to figure with those photos, but he is plenty wide -- at least 29 and he has great forks. You could be looking at a 190 plus Mulie! Even if you go with a conservative 22 inches widthe at the ears, he is 3 to 5 inches beyond the ears on both sides -- DO NOT PASS ON THIS BUCK!

Hes got to be a shooter in anyones book. Great Buck. Hope to see some pics of you and him together.

Yup, That's a Big Un!!! Can't really judge his front forks from the pics but the backs look great. I really like his height. Has the look of a high 180 buck to me.

I'd say Ridgewalker's guess is pretty close. The second photo betrays the real buck. Looks like a nice 3 year old if'n he was from these parts.

Are you guys nutts?
thats a 190" class buck!
YOU ARE NOT GIVING HIM WHAT HE IS!!
A rare brute! Good luck!!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-26-05 AT 08:23AM (MST)[p]IMO that buck isn't close to 190.

A tad better than 165 Maybe, but not 190. They ALWAYS look big from the rear, not to mention the velvet as well! 190 class deer looks absolutely monsterous from this angle... Too me, this one doesn't. Good buck though. I'd probably try for a better look, take notes as to where he is and move on hoping to find better these last few weeks before the opener.

Thanks Buckspy..I thought that I was going nuts reading all the other guesses..I think that everybody is stuck on that rear view photo.. Don't get me wrong, that is a beautiful buck and a great archery buck, I just don't think that he's the monster that everybody thinks he is. I'd stick him though..well, if I could hit him.:)

Top photo, his G-2 goes straight up from his ear tip as he is looking away and the other ear is back. Look at the width of the back of his head for scale. Middle photo, he is looking at a quartering towards angle of 30 degrees or so and his main beam sticks out past his ear making his spread look wider because of the angle. Most bucks racks "lean back" from their head as they look alertly towards the viewer and at a slightly sideways angle this would give the appearance of more width. Bedded photo, the bucks face is slightly away shortening the view perspective on his face but assuming he is 7 to 7 1/2 inches eye to nose, his G-2 is 16 inches or so and you can scale the rest of his rack of that.

OSOK is right in that 190 bucks look huge in velvet and there is no mistaking one if you have seen enough of them. A 190 buck takes 19 inch 2's and ATLeast 12 inch average fork depth if he doesn't have world class mass and a 25" plus inside spread. That buck doesn't have any of the criteria. If you were hoping for a 190 buck and you shot this deer, you would be sadly mistaken.

Of course that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Nice buck though.
