I've got the same tag, and have had the same results. A friend of mine harvested his way up top before the snow hit. I was waiting for snow hoping it would push them down a little. That may have been a mistake. I'm going up again here in the next few days and I'll let ya know what I see. If you get yours let me know where they are, and I'll do the same.
Thanks,
Dave

I saw some during the first season just a half mile above the road in one of the coulies on Big Mountain going up to the pass. I was helping a friend get his cow moose at the time so I didn't even try for one. Now i'm wondering if that was a good decision. Went out Saturday before Christmas and saw 6 bulls but no cows. going out this weekend. good luck to you all

huntfx4,

You can help the guy more than that! I know you have it in you. (It's a cow hunt for crying out loud.)

bug,

Send me a p.m. of where you have been and I'll let you know of any other stones I'd turn if I were you. I know there area well and have had success hunting elk around there. (I passed a couple small bulls with a bunch of cows during the general hunt this year.)

Smellybuck I sent Bugleman a PM before posting that telling him where I went.

Hatch Canyon, both of them, and the next canyon up have elk in them. I killed mine across the road on Little Mountain ridge, at the top. they aren't staying down very low. all the elk I saw were rather high..

Just wanted to add that there were at least 3 other elk killed in these canyons in the past 3 days. other guys out messing around on quads and snowmobiles told me of other elk closer to Big Mountain.

There are also about 30 cows on the south facing knob above the mouth of Parleys Canyon on the north side of I80. I believe this is still part of the East Canyon hunt. You can glass them from the Smiths parking lot next to REI. They are way up there, but no where near as far as the back of Little Hatch or Clear Creek canyons above Little Dell Res.

Cheers,
Pete

Good man huntFX4!!! From the past two posts it sounds like they are in the same places they are always found. No surprises. Just have to cover a lot of country or check the same place every single day.
