I asked about the brown paint on the skull plate. He said that he remembers his dad doing that back then because they didn't like the looks of the white skulls after they took the hides off. Luckly they didn't paint the antlers too!

Holey Moley!
How wide is that thing?!

Thanks for posting the pictures.
A lot of nice "basement" bucks from the old days
have been gracing these pages as of late.

It is 33" wide 9x8 with no width added from cheaters. 193 7/8" and net 190 1/8" typical and gross 234 5/8" and net 230 7/8" non-typical. A booner both ways! I think they should be as nice as the people that gave the 233" set to TheKnack.

WOW! Since I live in California that hits close to home! Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to share that amazing buck!

That is a great looking deer, wherever your from; no matter the decade.

On a side note, that deer would "Net" around 149 3/8 as a typical. You deduct all non-typical points from the typical score. That is why net scores on one hand are just a bunch of crap.

While on the other hand, if you are a score guy, a buck which nets both ways- Non-typical/typical - is very special and rare. His frame must be big enough to hold a high enough typical net while pushing the nontypical points over the B&C minimum. Say a 215" buck with 20 inches of nontypical growth could net 235" as a Nontypical and 195" as a typical.

No matter, the antlers pictured are very nice. He was also bigger years ago when he was shot.

Thanks Packout, you are correct. I should have done a better job explaining myself. I meant his typical frame scores well enough to be a booner. I was only trying to show how symetrical his mainframe is, not saying he he could go into the books as a typical. Thanks again for keeping everyone on the same page.

Mike,

That is a nice Buck for sure, thanks for posting it for all of us to see. Are those grape vines around the roof posts there on that porch?

Wow! That is an awesome rack!! I can believe some of the awesome bucks that people have just sitting in their basements gathering dust!
