Mountains vs Lowlands

Where do you guys think typically is the most hunting pressure in the mountains or in the lowland basins. Also where do you think the biggest bucks come from and where do you think the most number of deer are in the mountains or lowlands. I'm just speaking generally here, cause I know all of these things vary from place to place. I'm new to the forum, and i must say im pretty impressed with the way its set up and the number of people who reply each day. Thanks and Good hunting.

I live in Utah... and I have to believe it's the same everywhere. The most pressure is on the easiest access spots. Generally speaking, these are the lowlands, the mid-level of the mountain and anywhere with a mile of a road. Most of the higher elevations where I hunt are reduced pressure and hold the majority of the bigger bucks.

That being said, I think their are some tremendous bucks living just about everywhere people aren't willing to hike. Get yourself 5+ miles from a road, and now your onto something. See the bottom of a canyon no one will hike into because it's steep, nasty and miserable, then you have something.

For once i agree with LD :). Unless your hunting a LE hunt, the most remote mountain basins will hold the bigger deer. Some of the premier LE units here in Idaho have the biggest bucks in the state in the lowlands. But of course that is only because there is a limited amount of pressure on the deer.

Kicker

Alot of times here in AZ, the biggest bucks are found in the thick washes on the desert floor. The surrounding mountains have less vegitation and are easier to glass.
