CO NM Landowner Vouchers

I want to have a good, September archery elk hunt every year and I was wondering what I could expect to pay for a landowner voucher in Colorado or New Mexico?

I won't need food or lodging, I just want a tag that will get me into 300-330 class rutting bulls.

Since I will also try to draw every year, can I expect to still be able to find decent vouchers after the draw results are posted?

Thanks in advance for your help!

In NM you can resell your tag if you draw. Colorado is kinda hinky bout that now BUT it's kinda easy to determine if you're gonna draw in Colorado since it's true odds.

Some landowners MAY hold the deposit til after the draw and let you apply it towards next year if you draw.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-03-09 AT 10:32AM (MST)[p]Put a deposit down prior to the draw for NM. Re sell the tag or roll the deposit over for the next year. I put my deposit down in Dec. Land owners are now getting their vouchers bid up by brokers. Pretty hard to find one that will sell direct if you don't already have a relationship with them. But, phone calls are cheap now days.

SCR draw will be posted on the web mid march. You can also pull up the 2008 E-Plus landowner list and start calling for the unit you want to hunt. The E-Plus list will be out June 1.

(In case you were not familiar with the NM LO system....NM has a LO voucher system, by ranch and unit called E-Plus. The qnty. of vouchers depends on ranch size and carrying capacity. They also have a separate "Small Ranch" draw so small acreage ranches can get a single voucher (but not necessarily for the unit their ranch is in). Thus the SCR draw and the regular E-Plus system)

300" units were running 4K+ last year. All those units are now a minimum of 2 seasons and 15, 17, 16's are 3 seasons.

Clear as mud?

Thanks! I can't believe they average 4k for self-guided!?!? I figured half that.

Oh well!
