drew a tag for 27. need advice on areas to concentrate my efforts. am familiar with the virgin mts. but not the mormons. course this year there were multiple fires in 27 so who knows what it will be like. if you were going to hunt in 27 where would you expect to find the best chance at something 30" +. ironically there has also been a lot of moisture this year and water is flowing everywhere even this far into august. any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

it looks like there aren't many Nevada hunters out there. at least with any familiarity with area 27 as no replies. have contacted fish and game, not much help, and have asked around a bit with not much there either. will just have to fall back on old ways and look for places that have proved good in other areas and hope for the best. hunt high and hunt long!

Look out around Horse Springs. Take the Carp/Elgin exit and head out over the pass between the Mormons and the East Mormons. Late in the season the deer will be down low in the flats.

Hunted there several years back but that was in a dry year. If this is a relatively wet year in that area, the deer will be scattered, not concentrated within a half mile of a few water sources. Put on your hiking boots. Look for east and north facing timbered or brushy hill sides. And don't be surprised to find them out in the middle of nothing. There were some dandy bucks back there. Make sure that rack goes well outside the ears and has mass. psychodoc/
