Whose in this year??????????????
Pasayten or South?????????
First legal buck, or trophy?????
Bear or not????????????

I am headin up in the glacier peak area and I dont think i will shoot the first one i see, I have the last week of the regular season off from work so I am kinda waitin for that, but I cant stand not going huntin when the season opens. I will look around up there for 4 days and maybe get lucky on something big

My brother and I will be going into the Pasayten. We'll be going in on the 12th and coming out on the 19th, so we'll have 4 days to hunt and a couple days before the season starts to look around. My brother says he will take any legal buck. I'm looking for a 4x4, has to be at least close to the buck I got out of the Entiat last year. Bears...I don't know. We'll each have a tag, but I don't want to take away from my deer hunting time. Might take one on the last day if the opportunity presents itself.

Out this year, but definately in next year. Best of luck to everyone, lets hear some stories and see some pics after the hunt.

I'm out this year also....got some archery elk huntin' to do instead. Still lookin' for that bear in the mean time though.

We left at least two good bucks in my little GPW hole last year, but the 9-mile 5000+ foot packout to the trailhead waits as well. The one I was after last year should be reaching monster status this year and next. That hunt was a crippler. In a couple of years, maybe I'll again forget the pain and go back...

If I were there, I'd be exploring the Pasayten for 4 days or so, but I'm in Anchorage working, and trying to figure out a little weekend-war moose hunt.

I'll be back for the general, but my wife might not let me go! Something about the fact that the kitchen is in complete shambles and needs remodeling...

2 of us going. Glacier 4 days. We both have bear tags but won't shoot one unless we aren't seeing deer where we hope to. Can't wait.

This is my first shot at a the High Hunt so I'll take a deer given the chance. I'll spend more time next year on a couple of probable spots. Trophy hunting will wait for me. I won't shoot a tiny 2 x 3 like I saw scouting though. He was legal (maybe) but just barely so.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-23-05 AT 06:27PM (MST)[p]Don't worry about shooting any bears during your hunt. Just leave a cooler in full view inside your rig while its parked at the trail head... then on your hike/ride out, about a hundred yards before you get back to the parking lot, do a sneak n' peek through the trees and you'll be able to pick one off the roof of your rig while he's pre-occupied with pulling all the rubber stripping out from around your windows...

Of course some of the older ones have gotten smart and they just jump up and down on the roof till it caves in far enough that the windows pop out... (true story)

I'm out. Got some private land access for the general this year. Ridge, sorry to hear you're out. What's up?

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

We have 5 in on a drop camp 14 miles up the Entiat from 9/14 - 9/19. Up a little from last year, but still in the area where I saw the biggest muley I've ever seen in the wild after 30 years of hunting, and then he showed me how he got that big. I'm hoping that I'll run into one like that again. But with 5 deer tags, and 5 bear tags, we're thinking we'll be looking for grub for elk camp 10/28-11/5.
