Hey Guys :
What have the tags went for this year so far ???

Looks like there are some deals out there.

Thanks
Bull

maybe deals to be had, but many of them have a reserve price on them, witch pisses me off, god forbid if somebody got a deal.

So what would happen with a tag if it was not bid up to the reserve price?

Yeah, I get that. But what happens to that tag if they don't auction it then? Try again at another auction? Give it back to the state? Give it to a supporter? Throw it in the trash can?

I realize that this maybe has never happened. Just curious what the contingency plan is?

RMEF does not have a minimum, whatever the tag sells for, that is what it goes for. I know there are some conservation groups that have a minimum bid. Not sure how they re-allocate the tag.

oak, I have heard of it happening this year. and i'm pretty sure they aint gonna turn the tag over to the state! I'll go out on a limb and say it will be sold at another event, i have no proof of this however.

You are right. It was a Wasatch Rifle tag at a Ducks Unlimited banquet (how the hell they got that tag is beyond me). The reserve was $13,000 and it didn't go that high so they yanked it to be auctioned off at the Utah County DU banquet. They were not supposed to do that. I'm pretty sure that they won't get another tag like that again. If I was the high bidder on that tag, $hit would have hit the fan.

It's always an adventure!!!

Does SFW have a limit? I'm thinkin seriously about canceling my sfw plans and only going RMEF! I'm also considering buying a deer tag instead. It seems to me that there are still some heavy payers out there and I've changed my mind about paying that much money for a tag that really isn't worth it. I saw the paunsagunt deer tags not go for an incredible amount so I'm thinking seriously about that. What do you guys think. Would I have a great deer hunt on the pauns?

He who stomps the greatest stinky wins!

Stinky - according to the powers that be they don't have a reserve on any of the tags. They go for what they go for. I do know that several of the other conservation groups weren't very happy that they did that. I know that the people that were bidding on the tag threw a fit. They didn't know about the reserve until after the bidding was done.

The Pauns is a good hunt but it can be really tough. I guided down there for a couple of years when it was in it's prime but I haven't hunted down there on a regular basis. I have heard both good and bad things, depending on who you talk to. You would have good hunt either way.

I have bid on and even bought tags in the past in Utah .

There are a lot of games being played by others bidding the tags up and not even interested in buying them , i am being told by a lot of different people.

I also know that individuals have bought tags and dont even have a hunter for the tag when the tag is purchased.

This is obviously not ethical and needs to be stopped before those of us who want to buy tags say the heck with it because you cant trust the sysytem.

I know for the most part these tags and the organizations that auction them are legit but there needs to be rules in place so these games stop.
