Poll: Book Cliffs or Paunsagaunt?

I know I'll probably get some heat on this one, but with the way the Book Cliffs has changed since it has gone to limited entry it's going to be best place to hunt in Utah? What do you think?

I've been on both and would pick the Book Cliffs by a landslide. Not sure the bucks get as big, but the Books is an absolute blast to hunt.

Spent some time on both. The Book Cliffs have some great deer, but I don't think it can genetically keep up with the Pauns.

I'd gladly accept a tag on either:)

The Book Cliffs just needs to get rid of its 3x4's. There are a ton of them out there and no one shoots them, so they continue to breed more and more. Too bad they couldnt do a seperate hunt with 200 tags or so just for 3x4's. Think that would work?

Im not an elk hunter, but dont they have permits for just raghorns? Maybe they could enforce it like they do with those permits. I dunno, just thinking out loud. Im sure the idea is retarded, but. . .nevermind. Ill shut up =).

It all depends on what a hunter is looking for. If a guy wants a nice 22-26" buck, the Bookcliffs is an awesome place to go. Yes, there are bigger bucks there, but 3 to 4 year old bucks has been the norm harvested there. The rifle hunt is tougher there because the deer have moved to the lower elevations to the thick juniper and ponderosa country. The Bookcliffs do not have genetics for abnormal points. There are a lot of bucks there sporting one or two extra points, but you will seldomly see a buck carrying more. The Paunsagunt range does have some nontypical genetics. However, you will not see nearly as many deer there as you will in the Bookcliffs. The Bookcliffs are coming on strong, but I think as long as they are issuing 252 rifle permits, you won't be seeing many bucks over 4 years old!

I would rather hunt Nevada or Wyoming. Arizona and Southern Utah is just too hot for me. Just my opinion. fatrooster.
