Purchased a Widowmaker cow call from mossback that's suppose to make both loud and soft calls. With some practice I've been able to get some great sounding calls, but can't seem to make them soft enough ? Tried some cotton, still to loud in my opinion. Instructions say to blow softer, duh...

Anyone out there that uses this call having this problem ? Or not that could provide some advise would be appreciated.

Don't put your mouth over the call, that will only muffle the sound and make it sound wrong. It is a matter of applying less pressure with your lips and pushing less air through the call. I can make it as quiet or loud as I want. Put just enough lip pressure that it doesn't vibrate and then push very little air through. With a little practice is should become easier for you. I like this call over any other reed call because I have such a wide range of volume and pitch with it and it works when wet as well. Good luck, I lost count of the number of bulls I've called in with this call over the last few years.

Thanks for the tips, I'll keep working on it. Can't wait to see what kind of action I can drum up with it this fall. Hope to have half the success you've had with it PRO... Thanks again.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-21-09 AT 03:55PM (MST)[p]I've used this call even before it came out on the market. Yes you blow softer..duh. If you want softer calls try using only the tip with less pressure with your lips. You can get a variety of sounds by just simply sliding the call in and out of your mouth and by changing the pressure with you lips. Good Luck!
