Christensen Elk Hunt and no Orange ?????

I just watched one of those Christensen Rifle Elk Hunts on the "Hunting" Channel... was it a high fenced hunt ? The guy was on a southern Utah hunt and he shoots a 6x7 with his manditory Christensen Rifle but he is wearing a green shirt while it is being filmed... I'm almost certain after reading the Utah Hunting proclamation front and back that if your hunting with a centerfire rifle you have to have 400" of Hunter Orange on.

Anybody else see the show ? The other half was some guy shooting a big Bull on a California Ranch.

I saw him wearing orange a couple of times early in the hunt/program. Not sure about the actual shot though. I don't think he was wearing it when he pulled the trigger.

The Cali hunt may be on private land and I don't know the laws in that state. Maybe they don't require orange on private land?

A FEW YEARS BACK!!!

I SPENT THE ENTIRE HUNT IN AN LE ELK UNIT!!!

I SEEN MOST OF THE HUNTERS THAT HAD PERMITS IN THE UNIT!!!

IN ABOUT 10 DAYS I NEVER SEEN ONE HUNTER WEARING ORANGE!!!

ALSO SEEN A WOMAN HUNTING,NO ORANGE!!!

SEEN ONE DRUNK SWEARING UP & DOWN THERE WASN'T A BULL IN THE UNIT!!!

I'LL HELP ABOUT ANYBODY BUT THAT DRUNK HAD ALREADY CONVINCED HIMSELF THERE WASN'T ANY BULLS ANYWHERE IN THE UNIT,HE WAS DRUNK BY 8:00 AM & I SAID TO MYSELF:THATS ONE JOKER I AIN'T HELPING & HE DAMN SURE DIDN'T DESERVE AN LE PERMIT!!!

COULD'OF EASILY ROAD HUNTED & SHOT A DECENT 6 POINT ANY MORNING OR ANY NIGHT!!!

I filmed the "Cali hunt" you are referring to and no, hunter orange is not required. TMK, Neither hunt is high fenced.

Well, there you go, Destiny. I didn't think they were high fenced hunts. Christensen doesn't seem like the type to do that sort of stuff.

It's the UTAH hunt.... could care less about the Kalifornia hunt. Bobcat is correct... all girl here.

My issue is if the Utah hunt was not a High Fenced hunt then according to the proclamation... Hunter Orange was required and yet the kill shot the dude is wearing a puke green shirt in violation of Utah State Law... didn't think Christensen Arms were a bunch of Law breakers.

Maybe the Camera setting made the bright orange vest turn green under certain lighting conditions?????? I know on my wifes camera that she uses to film weddings, if you hit the wrong button it will change color and make certain colors look different.

Maybe his orange vest faded into puke green because of global warming??? the ozone layer is breaking down causing it to fade???? who knows???

I have hunted personally with Christensen Arms several times and they are not "law breakers".. Because most outdoor shows use only one camera man, what probably happened is, the camera was on the animal to get the kill shot and the footage of the actual shooter was a reenactment. The way you make it sound, apparently you have a personal beef against them!

Do you really care if they were wearing orange or not..... On a rule like that I could care less what someone else dose, as long as I know I am doing all I can to comply with the law Im not going to worry about what others do, I could care less.

If the UDWR see's the show and decides to issue a ticket then so be it, I could care less.

Its not something to get worked up about here on MM.

I saw the CA guys on a gunnison basin deer hunt on TV a couple years ago with one of the guys wearing an orange colored Old Navy sweatshirt instead of the required daylight flourescent orange which was illegal. Inadvertant to be, sure but still a violation. You can argue about the merits or wearing orange but that isn't the point at all. Its the idea that professionals in the industry are not tuned in to whats required by law. Thats the bigger issue.

I had a good friend of mine in a hunting video a couple years ago here in Colorado that filmed his hunt without wearing daylight flourescent orange headcovering and I gave him some crap about it for obvious reasons. He thought he was in the framework of the law by just having a vest because thats all thats required in his state.

I LOOK UP ON THE STEEP HILLSIDE AND WITH MY BARE EYES I SEE WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A BEAR HEADING UP THROUGH THE THICK STUFF!!!

I RAISE MY BINOS FOR A CLOSER LOOK & NO BS THERES A TARD IN DARK BROWN COVERALLS HEADING UP THROUGH THERE WITH NOT A SPECK OF ORANGE ANYWHERE!!!

I DON'T MUCH CARE FOR PUMKIN PATCHES & TRY AND AVOID THEM BUT ON CERTAIN YEARS EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I END UP IN ORANGE JUST TO REMIND MYSELF EVERY FEW YEARS WHY I DON'T MISS IT!!!

How can you even compare wearing orange to the things you just said, in every one of those illegal activitys you are hurting someone else, if you dont wear your orange it has no effect on anyone else.

I always wear my orange when I am required to, but Im not going to jump on the net and start a post because I saw someone on TV not wearing there orange, or ##### about someone not wearing it in a photo they post here on MM (witch used to happen alot on here).
