I feel like a million dollars!!!! I just got drawn for the fabled 3a 3c early archery bull tag!!!!!! I grew up in Snowflake which is in that unit. My best friend and business partner took a 380+ bull there two years ago and his wife took a 374 bull there last year. We were on a 390 7x7 that I am sure will be in the same place but BIGGER!! This is like a dream come true. DREAMS DO COME TRUE IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU....IF YOU ARE AMONG THE VERY YOUNG AT HEART!!!! I can't wait!!!!

Make sure you have your son holding up them soon to be awesome antlers. Cant wait to check the bad boy out.

It took a looong time, I think I had 11 points counting the loyalty and the hunter ed points. I am a Resident, My wife and I just finished out dream home in Snowflake. I grew up calling these Elk but never got to hunt them until NOW!!!!

Big congrats !!! thats one tag I would love to have! I had 5 points this year and drew a ...NOT DRAWN

Congrat's on the tag. I hate to be a little down on the unit, but the F&G have put way to many tags in there and the quality is suffering. I hunted it in 07 with my son, only 100 bull tags that year, the hunt was fantastic. The next year in 08, 150 bull tags - same as this year. People everywhere and the hunt was only marginal. Still some great bulls though and should be a good hunt.

I too have hunted that area the last two years, and beyond with a friend/business partner and his wife the next. Even though I think less tags would be better, the quality was UNREAL!!! I am very familiar with this area, and I can't think of many that are much better in the ENTIRE WORLD!! TO kill a 400 inch bull is a tall order anywhere, they are rare and hard to find, and when you find them with a bow the hunt is just starting!! The truth is you have to have lady luck smile down on you, plus be a skilled hunter, and spend a lot of time preparing and scouting, if everything lines up then, three other things can and will go wrong. But to kill a top tier bull you have to hunt where they live and make no mistake, they LIVE there. I know I have seen them!!!!

Congrats on the Tag, I got shut out again for archery Elk. But I did get my lope tag after applying 17 years 18 bonus points and I got drawn in 3A. I am not very familiar with 3A and plan on doing a lot of scouting from my friends place in Linden this summer. If you have any tips on where to get started it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

azrhodes

What kind of weapon? I know a good heard in 3a 3c with a great buck, it would be pretty tough with a bow, but with muzzle loader or rifle, a good chance. PM me and I will talk to you. I first need to make sure it is in 3a.

They do live there and it is a great unit. All I am saying is that the fish and game has decided to make it more of a deer unit and less of an elk unit. It did not even make their list of trophy managment units for elk. They are issuing alot more elk tags and it has hurt the quality. Nevertheless it is still a fantastic tag. Last year alot, and I mean alot, of the hunters camped on the 300 road and I think that less top end bulls cam over from the res. Guys don't camp on the 300 road!!!! It's where the big bulls cross!!!!!

I agree with you 100% Kelco. In 2005 when my brother drew there were I think 75 tags & no one was allowed to camp in 3C yet cause of the burn....it was awesome.

Drew a 23 north archery bull tag. Only 15 tags and no cow tags!
BIG Bulls in unit, only problem too many Bulls so there is stiff competion for cows and many Bulls end up with broken horns.

That's a good problem to have. :)
