Applied for Arizona, sent in $746. for elk & $636.00 for antelope. Paying for licenses on both with money due back after only needing one. both checks was off by .25 and got rejected costing my loyalty bonus points and my point that I would have gotten this year! I would think that it would have been too easy to take the fifty cents out of the money they owed me back on the second hunting license. Yes it was my error for not checking the computer check. Just a little pathetic after 10 years of applications and license donations to that States cause.

Lesson learned!!!!! OUCH!!!!!

2. If a paper Hunt Permit-tag Application that is submitted contains an error and is received by Jan. 22, 2009, the Department will make three attempts within a 24-hour period to notify the applicant by telephone (if a phone number is provided).

They called me.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-01-09 AT 07:34AM (MST)[p]I have quarter sitting on my bench that is worth $5500. That is how much it cost me to have it removed from my son's esophagus.

Sorry, just a little levity, you are right, that sucks dude. A guy sits around all year waiting for the next draw and a whole year gets dorked up over a quarter. OUCH.

Sounds about like everything else in america today NOBODY is going to go out of their way to help a guy out...even a .25 cent mistake. Yea, it should have been the correct amount but with all the online technology we have today?? AZDGF knows what these tags and bp's mean to a person . They always ask for the publics help, from helping with litter cleanup or help finding poachers, ect. but make a .25 cent error and they don't have the means to correct it for you.

That is a tough deal but they are generous as compared to most states by offering you a chance to put in earlier and get a phone call to correct the mistake. Leason learned is an understatement. bummer.

What a BS reply. The AZG&F DOES go out of their way to help a guy out. If you apply before the correction deadline, they will call you and help you correct the error. How many other states do that?

Mistakes can happen. Do everything you can to make sure they don't happen to you, including getting your applications in early enough to correct mistakes.

Thats WEAK....... .25 cents.. they can send you back over $1000 but can't adjust for .25 cents .. thats really WEAK

Thats a tough break I dont believe its justified but when someone has power they tend to rule with strong arm.

What's weak is that there are hunters who think they deserve a break for not being able to follow instructions a 3rd grader could follow.

Sorry to hear that!! I know how points and app's can be an obsession.

I had a similar event happen years ago when i sent in my lope, elk, and sheep app's for Kali, all in one envelope. I put a stamp on it unknowing that it was $.02 less than the new current required amount...RETURN TO SENDER! By the time i got it, too late! That sucked as well.

Several hundred missed the AZ deadline by an hour or so. I didn't hear too many suggesting they "just make an adjustment" for those guys.

I tought I was one of only a few with that kind of horror story....I dont feel so bad now that I am good company!

put in as a party some years back, my partner wrote the hunting licence number wrong on his app (purchased the licence earlier)...like idiots we got it in last minute so we were past the correction deadline.
we were not entered in the drawing, bought a hunting licence for no reason, and no point!

dam! I am feeling a little queezy just reliving it!

lesson learned...I will never make that mistake again.

We can appoint a man to secretary of treasury of the USA that just happen to have a "small oversight to the tune of $35,000 plus " and never miss a beat but god forbid if a common man makes a twenty five cent " small oversight" on his elk application.

He had his chance...now get a rope.

I think that if they was going to have to send me back $120. for the second license charge they could have applied my own money to the apps. And "yes" I did miss some questions on math in most of my tests!!!!

At least I have my ranch here in New Mexico to hunt elk and mulies on, So i a'm not out on my Hunting affliction as my wife tells me.

I'll just pay more attention next year! And hope that A young hunter drew the tag that I was getting!!!

What's real sad about this is the way the Game and Fish whines about not having enough money to run their agency, then they reject good money.

I know any other business in the USA would dang sure take the time and effort to to help a guy spend his money.

I know if one of my customers sent me a check that was short .25 cents, I dang sure wouldn't send it back. I'd figure out a way to keep it and get the other .25 cents.

The real problem is that they are gov't employees and they don't give a damn whether the business makes money or not, because their check comes every month regardless of whether they make a profit or not.

We've all made these simple mistakes, and have paid the price, but the sad part is that it costs wildlife when they reject good money.

It is too bad that something like that happens. But, what happens when they do bend a little and you draw a tag and somehow word gets out. Now here I sit with the next number in the draw and I miss out on a tag because you drew it. I smell a law suit coming. I filled out my application without any problems and got jack. See what I mean?

I screwed up my app this year also. I wish they would go back to the online apps because you cannot continue if you make a mistake.

never dealt with arizona, but last year here in wyo i accidently shorted my check for my brother dad and i by $15. i got a call a couple days before close. The lady told me what i owed and when i had to get it there by. She asked me if i did not get the money there in time what tag and for who did I want to pull from the draw. I was able to overnight a check and made it in time. Don't know where my math went wrong at, but i sure appreciated the phone call. If i had waited till the last minute it would have been a diffent story. i guess that is why they give you an entire month to get your apps sent in.

I used to get a quarter for about $60-80 back in the good old days, just depended if it was homegrown or something better ;-)

LAST EDITED ON Apr-07-09 AT 08:57PM (MST)[p]There is a reason I triple check my applications and checks before putting them in a FedEx envelope well ahead of the deadline.

I think that anyone who goes with a mail service that doesn't have tracking is asking for problems eventually. I knew within a few hours of when my package was delivered, and who signed for it. If I ever have any problem with a state saying I did not get my applications in on time, I have a written record of when it was delivered and who signed for it. With the way premium tags are getting to be these days, I can't imagine not sending them this way.

CAelknuts thats a great idea. I always do mine extra early in case of a screwup but I never gave it a second thought that it might not have even gotten there.
