early Gila bow hunt

With a pregnant wife due in Early Oct, I was thinking about applying for the first bow hunt in 15 or one of the 16's. I'm familiar with the second and third hunts being better and obviously being closer to the rut, but what is the first hunt like? Is it worth it or just too hot? Are the bulls getting frisky at all yet or is it all water hole hunting? Is it possible to get your own water hole or is it just way too crowded? Any other comments?

I hunted in 16A in 2007 and it rained like a MF the entire time. Some great bulls, but difficult to get to at times. They would bugle like crazy from 3am to about 4:45am and then shut off (you could shoot about 5:30). When I was there I was told it was more of a water hole hunt, but you can find plenty of solid shooter bulls if you want to go for a long hike. Have good glasses as well.
