I'm going to be in Richfield, Utah for work this week and wondered if anyone could tell me where to go see elk this time of year. Watching big stinkies sounds a lot funner that sitting in the hotel.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Just drive out of town in ANY direction and you can find elk....They are EVERYWHERE!!! Dont you know we raise SPIDERS in town for later in the year!!!

If I was in town I would take you out and take a look.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-15-09 AT 00:24AM (MST)[p]Head up towards Fishlake... Almost always see some up that direction this time of year..
It is about 45 miles to the lake, but you don't need to go that far up. You should see some feeding on FLEH's property..LOL..
But you should see some by the time you get to there. He is about 4 miles before you get to the lake...
I may be around if you want more info...

Thanks, Rick. I hope to be able to spend a few hours up there. You've got a great bowling alley and all but a little elk fix would be a lot funner.

Thanks again,

Jason

Since most all of the deer and elk have shed you might want to grab a fishing pole. There are some great areas to fish down there and this can be a great time of year to wet a line

That's a great idea...too bad I'm already in St. George and my fly rod is home. But speaking of sheds, I might have to take a hike and see if the locals have left any bone on the mountain.

By the way, it was just SNOWING in St. George.

Thanks,

Take the highway to Fish Lake. Should start seeing some around mile marker 25.

Thanks everybody for the help. You guys really went above and beyond (2Lumpy, thanks for the complete guide to the area).

I drove up the mountain tonight and found lots of elk right where you said I would find them. There were elk everywhere.

A few spikes were still packin'. (Sorry the pics aren't great. I forgot the %&#$ spotting scope.)

Went and visited with a great guy, Antlerrick and saw his awesome trophies. Thanks for the chat Rick.

MM is a pretty cool tool to find great people.

Thanks again,

Hey Jason,
Thanks for stopping by. It was fun visiting with you. And I'm glad you found some elk to look at. Maybe I can put a tag on that one bull that was sprouting so quick...
Hope your presentation goes well..
Rick
