Missed the deadline due to moving this spring. Looking at tags DM00402R unit 004,014,214,441 or DM01202R unit 012,013,023,024. Besides all the people what kind of hunt can I expect, and what would be considered a shooter. Email is [email protected]. Any help would be appreciated. I moved to a whitetail state and now am about to go nuts, so just being able to muley hunt will make me happy.

Come on guys, can someone shed a little light on the subject. Not asking for hotspots or anything like that. Just want to know what I can expect(terrain, average buck size, and which tag would be better).

There are usually reasons there are leftover tags...especially now after the CDOW has had them available for so long. Most of the time leftover tag units are over the counter elk units where public land gets over run by hunters and the CDOW offers 3 to 5x too many tags for the number and quality of bucks available! Other reasons for leftover tags this late in the game is there is a lot of private land and very little public to hunt. The little public that is available gets hammered! With all the tags and pressure in these units the bucks usually figure out where the property lines are and likely stay on the private and you will likely be lucky to get a dink 4x. Obviously if you can find remote areas that are at least 2 or 3 miles from any 4 wheeler roads in extremely rough terrain it will pull things in your favor. You better be ready to work!

I have a feeling no one else has posted here because the hunts you are interested in aren't exactly quality. If you want to just get up in the hills and do some hiking...I'd go for it...but you will definitely have plenty of company!

That is exactly what I figured. Kinda messed up on the draw this year because I have 4 points and would have drawn. I love to hike in and camp about 3-4 miles and if that is the case I will be doing that.
