Alright, I am swallowing my pride and asking for some help on this years General Season deer tag. Now, this is my first year hunting the North Eastern unit, in fact I drew it as a fourth choice (ouch!), but it beats staying at home and not hunting this year. I have no idea where to even begin looking. Now I know Im not going to be able to escape the crowds completely, and thats fine, but can anyone give me any good areas to start my search. I am planning on going scouting this weekend, and would like to have a gameplan going into it. Unfortunately, due to work and more work, I haven't had a chance to get out and start lokking yet. I have looked over some topos, but like I said, I am COMPLETELY lost as to where to go this year.I'll be hunting with my 67 year old father in law and my brother in law as well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....honey holes included !! :)

Thanks in advance.

I've hunted this unit for many years. If you are willing to go far, look at the Blind Stream area above Rock Creek. This is located North of Duchesne. Wait until you cross the US Forest Service boundry. You'll be hunting above the Ute Indian Reservation.

I passed up a 26" 3X3 last year along with 28 other smaller bucks. I only know of two 4x4's that were harvested last year from this area and I know that there were at least 6 seen.

The area around Flaming Gorge will always have a lot of bucks, (smaller ones mostly), but if you'll go up Pole Creek on the South West side of the Dam, you will see a big boy or two.

Let me know how it goes.
