General Utah question

Please pardon my ignorance here. I'm saving my LE points for a someday hunt in the Pauns or Books. But I'm confused about what to do with my general points. I have just bought points over the last few years and now have 3. Can I draw any good general hunts next year? How many points do you need to draw a good general area? Which area? Is there a point where it does not make sense to continue buying general points? Thanks. BTW, I want to hunt unguided.

If youre talking about a general season tag, you could draw any region with 3 points....As far as which one, depends on where you live, how much scouting you can do, and what type of terrain you want to hunt.

I agree, you'll be able to draw with 3 points. I would start putting in for hunts and not buy anymore, but that is just me. Almost any area here in Utah has good bucks it just depends on how much time you spend out looking for them and patterning them on whether you will end up successful in getting a good buck.

Good points, I should have provided more info. I live in So Cal so anywhere would be a long drive, but the Southern part of the state is not too bad. I'd be able to give it at least a couple long weekends to scout ahead of time. I like to hunt open country with mostly sage and aspen pockets. Hiking and steep country is not a problem. Ideally, I'd like to avoid crowds but I realize that is not always possible. I'm not looking to kill a monster with a general tag, just a fair chance at a representative buck is all I could ask for.
