This is a picture of my region G buck. Our group of 5 hunted hard for 3 days but did not see the number or caliber of bucks we had seen in the past. We were backpacked in to some awesome highcountry basins but could not find the big boys. I found this buck feeding in a snow chute and decided to take him. My first shot hit him right through the heart. He took two leaps down the chute and I fired again. As you can see from the photo, my second shot apparently hit him in the nose. I am not sure how that happened exactly, but it sure ruined his cape. He is not the monster I was hoping for but he is 24" wide and I was happy to get him.

Good buck....congrats to ya. That sucks about the nose....you can't even really european Mount it either. Oh well, thanks for the pics.

Glad to see that your appreciation of the buck doesnt require a massive rack. The thrill of the hunt and the memorable time spent with friends is the real deal. I couldnt afford to go this year (non-res from Michigan) and I am surely envious of your trip as well as the nice buck you have there. Congratulations on your success.

Thanks for the pic and the story. Sounds like Wyoming is quickly on the way downhill. I hope our Game and Fish folks take note and make some changes. There are WAY too many people hunting that precious country and the season is also too long.

ICMDEER , Just got back from Wy. and while we saw a few less bucks than in the past it was still a great hunt . Got to pass on over 30 bucks the first morning . Ranging from little forkies to a heavy 28" buck . I had spotted a typical that would go quite a bit over 200" that I was trying for but he was smarter than I . So no deer for me . From what I've found if you hunt the open faces after opening day your probably not going to see much . After the first shot opening day the bigger bucks head for steeper country with lots of timber . In the past the bucks seemed to linger in the high basins a bit longer , a couple days , but this year they vanished , to the trees . Maybe they're just getting smarter ?

Congratulations on your success!
Nice buck bud. They always get bigger.

Thats a good buck! Nice job. It's alot better than getting a dinky 2 point on the bow hunt and not being able to get to it before the yotes do thats for sure. A guy I know had that happen to him, o well.

Nice buck. I hunted hard for 3 days in region G and saw only a handful of bucks like the one you got. Hopefully I can see something bigger later on in the hunt or I'm eating tag soup.

I wonder if lemon pepper seasoning tastes good on a Wyoming deer tag? I know I'm putting BBQ sauce on that conservation stamp.
