Hey fella's, I dont expect you to give up your hard earned honey holes, but I need a little help to get started.I've been hunting Elk mostly, for a long time, done pretty well. I want to work on Mule Deer and have 7 points but haven't drawn a good tag yet.I can hunt hard and dont mind it. I have some time during the last week of the general season in Chelan and Okanogan County,(ends Oct 29th) But I have never spent any time there. Any general starting points would be very helpful...Thanks.

Get a boat, dump it into Lake Chelan, head up lake to Prince Creek. Get out and hike straight up until you cant stand it and then head north. Work your way back down to the lake. Take time to stop and look! Another is in the Okanogan East around Swan Lake.

If you like to hunt with half the population of Seattle, hunt the Methow, Twisp, Winthrop, Entiat, Brewster, Omak, or even Republic. There are some dandy bucks in those areas, you just have to know where the pockets are to where they hide during season. It isnt near any road.

I agree - get the notion out of your head right now that your deer will make it back to your truck intact, and hunt accordingly. Hope you have a good pack!

Pillowcases, two good (light) knives, and lots of rope. These things are your friends. Don't bother gutting it - skin one side and pull off the quarters and bone the neck and backstrap. Hang quarters in tree to bone later. Flip and repeat. Much, much easier than it sounds, and you don't spill piss all over the tenderloins (I'm clumsy that way).

Take Polar Bear's first advice, I bet you would find some good hunting based on some of the whitetails he's killed.

Shoot me an e-mail at [email protected] and I might be able to help you a little. Don't bother p-m ing me on here, I won't be on the net much for the next two months. If you don't catch me soon though, I will be on a moose hunt.
Good luck.
