With most areas in Wyoming opening this Saturday, where will everyone be hunting. I will be hunting general area in the Snowy Range as I did not draw a tag this year. Have seen some nice bucks in a particular meadow this year, so my plan is to be there come sun up on Saturday. Can't hardly wait. I have been bowhunting on the weekends, but nothing close enough for a shot. Plan is to drive up Friday night and set up camp. Will be meeing some buddies of mine from Cheyenne.

We will be up north of Douglas hunting deer and antelope.

We're heading up to the Cheyenne area. Region J for deer and 38 for antelope. Found a nice reanch to hunt antelope on, but have yet to secure a ranch to hunt deer on, that's affordable. I've called many ranches in the area, and either I got no return call or they were very high priced. Does anyone here know or can reccommend a ranch w/ affordable deer hunting? Muleys. Any info would be appreciated. I know it's short notice, and i appologize. But even when talking to the game warden, he didn't seem to willing to point me in a direction. All he said was there was public land i could hunt! Well, duh? LOL Anyways...any help apprecaited. My cousin and Uncle from MI are coming. Their first "western" big game hunt. So, everyones excited.
Good luck to all who drew...and good luck to those who didn't in the draws next year. THanks agian...P-DUB! SCott

I've found Wyoming G&F to be little help at all. They give out their silly little landowner lists and that is about it. We actually went up there this summer for scouting. I thought if I showed up in person they might help a little more. Nope. I went in to the Sheridan office this summer and talked and got the standard spiel. My wife came in behind me and they didn't realize she was with me. I walked out when I was finished. My wife lagged behind still looking at some of their literature and actually heard them laughing at me.

On the other side of the coin, I've found the BLM and USFS people in Wyoming to be very helpful. I strongly suggest you contact those offices in the area where you are hunting. We hunted Region B last year. The USFS office showed me a couple of specific spots to try for deer. Didn't shoot one, but it was just because I was choosy. We saw lots of deer on public land. I suspect it would be the same way where you are.

The BLM office in Buffalo went way above and beyond to help me with public land spots in Region C this year.

Check out the many walk in areas in the area, many open for deer. These are private lands open to the public for hunting. Can't say which one, but a buddy of mine shot a 150 class muley on a walk in area in eastern Wyoming last year, so that may be worth a try.

I'll be in the same area. I have a couple of ranches to hunt antelope on and will in the NF looking for my first 4X4 mulie. I have a couple of spots in mind but don't really know what to expect since I don't know that much about them. I plan on finding a spot away from the roads and walk in to get away from the pressure. I'm pretty pumped about going. I was going to leave Thursday but may leave tomorrow night because I can't wait. Where you camping at? One of the NF campgrounds or DIY?

Dang, my rifle areas for elk and deer do not open until October 15th. I drew area 19 elk and that were I hunt deer area 66 normally.

i'll be in my favorite drainage in the sierra madres, wishing i needed more than a t-shrt by the looks of the forecast.

I'll be hunting elk in the Star Valley area.

"wishing i needed more than a t-shrt by the looks of the forecast."
Isn't that the truth?!!

I'll be in Region A NE of Sundance(doesn't start until 11/1) looking for mulies, but seeing tons of whities...the best part of this trip is my drive between Douglas and Gillette where I've seen some great bucks within 50 yds. from Hwy 59...I've seen so many "shooter" bucks running fencelines along the TB Grasslands that I have to ask the question, can you hunt this area??? I'd hate to ask a local and get laughed down...BTW, CO resident saving up for my Region G hunt...
