Wyoming Areas 157/170?

Hey guys, I've got a tag for deer around Riverton in area 157 and 170. I know that it's pretty much ALL private ground. The group I'm going up with has access to a ranch up there, but I'd like to hear of any other options in the area.

I've got a map of a few walkin areas, but don't know if they're any good. I've had a difficult time getting in touch with the game warden in the area.

Any info would be appreciated. I know there are a lot of deer in that area, but we're not expecting much in the way of big deer. I think we'd be happy with some 160 class bucks or a 130"+ whitetail.

You must have the early hunt, and a lot of the locals hunt it hard. Lots of the bucks swim river every day, and sniping them off the bluffs is much more productive than getting down in the bottoms and brushy draws and buggering up the area with scent. A couple of the sporting goods shops have dynamite mounts of local deer. There are a few of those class deer around there taken each season, but not a lot. The WT's can be impressive, and still not score real high (we've shot about 10 over the last few years on the late hunt). Most of the ranchers will give permission if you stop and ask. Be very careful with all the reservation boundaries, as they watch it closely and will hammer you for infractions. Good luck!!!!
