I'm not sure this is worth reporting, but I had a fun and memorable weekend. I took a friend/client on his last hunt. He's 80 and has had some great hunts, but decided this owuld be his last one. (He got a 232 muley with us in 1997; still our best.) He wanted a solid antelope and a "good 4 point muley" to celebrate his last hunt and being 80 years old. He can't walk much any more and he can't hear too well either. But his natural instincts take over when the rifle is in his hands.

We saw some good bucks Saturday morning, but they gave us the slip, and ended up on the neighbors. He did get a real nice antelope just before noon on a 255 yard shot. Dropped the buck in his tracks with a high shoulder shot. My friend said it was the most massive antelope he's taken. We could not find the good 4 point muley he wanted Saturday night, so we tried again Sunday morning.

I could see some deer in the same alfalfa field where the buck had been well before shooting light. So we drove past the field, hiked to a high knob and waited to see if the good buck would cross in the same area. He came by in about a half hour and we watched him come toward us for 20 minutes. My friend made a good shot at 273 yards and he was down. The buck has good forks and "pearling" around his bases, plus long brow tines.

It was a good way to end a hunting career for a great guy and an avid supporter of gun rights and hunting. I hope when I'm 80, I can take a solid antelope and a good deer.................

My pics are in the 35 mm and if I get them developed, I'll try to post them. It will be a while because the next party of hunters arrive tomorrow.

Congrats to your friend/client, I sure hope when I am 80 that I'll be able to do the same.
