Congrats to all of you.

Congrats to all of you on a successful hunt, which state as I can't make out the license plate on vehicle??
All real nice bucks, only one small one in the bunch.

OK I hate you !!. just kidding, those are some nice bucks there. What state did you hunt in?

Just curious is all, I went out this weekend, hiked and glassed and just ended up helping my cousin with his first 4x4 buck.

Found a few sheds though so it wasn't a total loss.

I finally had to shoot one on the last few hours of the hunt, could not hold out from all the pressure from my bud's.

The 300 WSM rocks with 180 grain Barnes Triple-X. This gun was shooting great out to 480 yards when we were bored.....did not have to much time for that though! Looking forward to using it in New Mexico for Elk ( 10/15 to 10/19 ).

Good job! That is a pretty sweet picture with all those bucks in the back of the truck. I only have two questions?

1-Which Region?
2-Did you leave any for the rifle hunters? :)

Congrats again on a successful hunt!

SCOTT

THat's a heck of a pickup load you guys got there. Looks like you had a great hunt.

Gotta be Wyoming if that's Utah (other than an LE area) I'll give my lefty for the cause!:) Atleast other states aren't too far to drive too from here!:)

Congrats on a truckload of bucks. That's pretty cool!

Congrats on an extremely sucessful hunt, I love the picture of the hard days work in the back of the truck.

I just messed myself!

WOW! Nice work! I hate you all!

I had a day like this back in '91 There were 6 of us that all harvested too. But I'd say you all did slightly better with a little more mature bucks.

Not that it means much but I believe that is a delicate Arch on that license plate. I hope that wasn't in Utah however because we need those king of bucks passing on the genetics.

It is good to see these kind of days can still be had.

So, it appears the camera man came up empty handed. Or was it a timed picture?

Alan,

That looks like a good time! How did your Mt.Dutton archery elk go? Have you been on the Wasatch Front yet?

Dustin

The camera man happened to be a friend who camped with us and just came along to enjoy ( Boy's Weekend Out ).

Dustin,
The Dutton hunt did not end up as I had planned. Passed on a few small 4's, 5's and 6's ( around 300" ). Could not ever get the bulls to talk enough and commit. That last 100 yards even with a caller way back was not working. The unit is very rough and open. Did not see the amount of elk that I was expecting. Came home tagless after miles and miles of hiking. Fun time though.

I have not been on the Front...yet. Probably around the first of November. Really enjoy that 2006 Wastch Front Deer Calendar you did. Is it available in Sportsmans Warehouse yet?

If you would like to hook-up on the Front, let me know.
Your friend, Alan

ES,

Nice bucks. Looks like it was your time to relax and enjoy a deer hunt without stress. Good job.

I'm pretty sure that's a Utah license plate. Either that or Nevada.

GREAT PICTURES! However, we need some stories to go along with them!

Congrats man!

O.K....here is the story.

Arrive at camp friday night around 9:30 pm. Set-up camp and get hyped. 12:00pm bedtime and wake up at 4:00am to saddle the horses. Clint goes outside of the trailer to get a juice and cannot find his 120 qt cooler. He immediatly goes to Zack and Brandon to ask them ( jokers ) where they hid his coooler. They deny it for 20 minutes and we all realize that two guys walked into our camp ( 1-trailer, 1-tent, 4-trucks, 2-horse trailers, 4-horses ) and walked right out to the road with the 120 qt. cooler.

If they were hungry, I would have made them a nice breakfast prior to the hunt. We all had our trucks unlocked with Zeiss Bino's, scopes, etc on the front seat of the trucks. There were generators, stoves, etc, that were all worth allot more money. Anyway, this cooler was very heavy and it took two of us to lift it into my truck. I bet they took it thinking they had hit the "Holy Grail of Booze"...............you would think they would look first at the truck license plates ( Yes it is "UTAH" ). IE: The cooler contained 5 blocks of ice, two dozen "caffein free" coke's and some water bottles. Don't think they were able to get to drunk that night.

Moral of the story, lock your trucks and put away any valuables...or anything you cannot stand loosing.

Back to the hunt. We decided to leave the horses for the pushes later and hit the ridge tops. Could see some deer on opposite canyons and to far for shots. I soon ended 400 yards above the others who were in a desolate creek bottom and standing there looking around thinging " and where do we go now" I was thinking that I was sure glad to be 400 yards up hill and in a position that I could still shoot something. Where they were at looked terrible.........just then I could see two hunters running down a hill and chasing some deer.....yea, right at my buddies in the bottom. I yelled "get ready, they are coming down the hill from the west", no sooner had I yelled....they started shooting! There were 4 bucks and 4 does on the run, Zack hit the 27" at 330 yards on the run and Clint hit the 25 1/2" at 430 yards standing. Once the shooting stopped, all I could hear was hooping and hollering. Great shots and I had a perfect view with "no shots". We all had our deer ritual ( Soda's and Candy Bars ).

Later that night we took the horses and pushed a few area's where Brandon picked up his deer. 200 yard running shot!

The second morning was realislow, rode the horses 9 miles and only saw a few does with a very small buck. We then figured that with the three "Dog's" who had filled their tags ( Zack, Clint and Brandon ), it was time to use them for pushes as the weekend was comong to an end. We picked a draw with alot of cover and had the two shooters ( Matt and Alan ) at the bottom of the draw. This cover was not over 200 yards wide and the "Dog's" were able to keep the deer from blowing out the sides and funnel them down. From the start of the push you could hear: Get-up, Coyotee Squeels, Breaking Branches, There's a bald head, Here comes a 2 point to the West, Cut him off, etc, etc. If you get my drift, it was not hard to figure out what was coming at you. Soon enough, does were blowing out the bottom and then a buck! Matt made a nice 200 yard running shot and 4 tags were now filled.

It was now very late in the afternoon and I was ready to go home with an unfilled tag and happy for the experiences we had so far. My buddies would not let that happen!!! Over to the next draw for a 4-Dog push! I drove the truck into the bottom and got ready a couple hundred yards up the opposite hill. There is alot of pressure on one shooter to not miss when your buddies have walked that far. Anyway, the draw erupted with noise clear up the canyon......I was laughing so hard I could not watch the bottom of the draw. Soon enough a doe and a few yearlings cam out running and went into a smaller aspen patch at the bottom. Clint had kicked up a 4-point and yelled " Alan get ready... a 4-point is coming". I could not use my bino's since there was only a few seconds that these deer would came out running and into some more cover. I soon saw a larger deer appear on the run, had my scope turned down to four power, got on the deer's front shoulder and pulled the trigger. Saw the 4-point bite the dust. I was yelling " YEA" and so was the hills ( ie: the 4-dog's in the trees ). They knew what happened.

This was one of the funnest hunts I have ever been on and to spend it with your best friends was awsume!

Alan

I don't know who said it, but that pic needs to be in black and white just like the good ole days. That kind of harvest of mature bucks rarely happens in this day and age. Congrats to all the fellers!

The 2 bucks in the second picture have a lot of the same characteristics. The left side(in photo) forks curve in the same and the right side is about the same.

Very nice deer and great first picture. CONGRATS
