here is a ccouple that fit in that range. I shot the one on the left in 06'. My Dad took the other in 08'. I know a lot of you have probably already seen this clip, but it never gets old to me. This is my 06' bull coming right in for me. This might give you an idea what one looks like at the moment of truth..

RE: big bull pics...350

"Legacy I pray you are kidding!"

I agree.... That arrow for reference at 28"-30" tells a much different story..... Nice 3rds though.... Terry

RE: big bull pics...350

I'm sorry Legacy... There is no way that bull would go 350". My father has a 5x6 that I must say is heavier than yours and has relatively equal tine length... I've stretched it out to about 305"...

Maybe that was your mistake, you meant to write 305" but you got the "5" and the "0" mixed up??? Yours looks to be about a 300" bull...

Thanks for the pic though, I wouldn't pass him up with my bow...

LMAO!!
I'm a little worried about the ghost images above your head there stinky, now i KNOW we were hunting on sacred Indian ground, we have "orbs"!!!

I'm not saying this to get into a debate, but I'm just curious where you Mike Eastmans would put his measurements at based on this picture? I am no official measurer and am not all that great in field judging elk, but this bull WAS measured by an offical P&Y measurer and is in the books (not to say an official measurer can't make a mistake). I did not kill this bull (although I helped pack it of the mountain), and to tell you the truth, I was kind of shocked when I seen the final number - I would not have ever guessed him that high. Oh, and I was way off anyway, I looked at the score sheet and it says 342 7/8 (net).

I am not pretending to be Mike Eastman but,Legacy there is no way that bull you posted is 340 and there is no way that colorado bull is 340 either unless your measuring the main beam and then measuring it again as a G6 then maybe I could see 340.

You "Know It Alls" crack me up! How can you say the colorado bull is not 340 from a freaking picture? Every point is long until the 5th's. Good main beams and it looks like good mass. I really dont care what it scores. Im just glad a few people are willing to share photos.

Guys it is hard to tell alot about an elk on the wall in a photo from the side or lying dead on the ground both elk are great bulls. Point is that its a heck of 5x5 with long tines regardless of what it measures out at. Wish I had either elk on my wall. Enjoy the pictures!

I am not saying they are not great bulls, I would shoot either one in a heartbeat, all I am saying is that they do not appear to be 340 class bulls and that measurement thing I brought up is a very common mistake I have seen guys do on elk and mule deer.

Oh yeah, that's the one we call the "PinHead" bull. But there is quite some debate as to whether Stinky actually shot it since there is still quite a bit of flesh still on the carcass and there were no craters anywhere near where it fell. Only Slam knows for sure.....

RE: big bull pics...350

If I had to judge the size of a bull off of a picture, OR judge it from seeing the bull and looking at the exact measurements taken from an official measurer, I'd have a little bit more confidence in the documented measurements - I'm just saying. For ME, I wouldn't have enough "confidence" to make that call just from a picture. Now, right OR wrong, this is what this measurer scored this bull at and this is the score that is listed in the books. Basically you're saying that the measurer made a 40" mistake.

GREAT comeback Legacy. Many people do overscore their elk and can't prove it,,but you did prove it! CLASSIC!!

are you serious? have you ever even killed a bull? even a rack bracketer aint that dumb.

Glad you posted that Legacy!! It's great to see the complainers get put in there place, now back to people posting pictures of some big bulls!

RE: big bull pics...350

legacy,

You dont have to prove anything. I did not think he went that high, but 1, I thought those long bottom points may be tricky, and 2, I really dont think most people get on here and pull a bunch of numbers from their ass and post them, and 3, calling a guy an idiot or liar is out of line. Interesting bull! Thanks for posting the score sheet. A guy can learn from that if he wants to.

RE: big bull pics...350

Defintely a tricky bull to photo score. I would not have guessed the beams at 50"+, also those beams must really flare out at the top or something for a 41" inside spread or that is a really long arrow. Would be cool to see it from the front.

Dax

RE: big bull pics...350

I think more people would post photos if some of these haters would stop criticizing everything. That isn't the first time that I have seen someone have to post a score sheet to hush the naysayers.

RE: big bull pics...350

My bull, with busted brow tines, is 350 3/8 gross and 337 net (official). The bull on the wall is my dads archery bull 378 gross 363 net (official). The second photo is of my bull after i had his brow tines fixed this year. There was a little accident where he fell off of his pedistal and cracked the skull so when I was getting that fixed I decided to make him whole again.

RE: big bull pics...350

I'll have to admit, Legacy's bull hrew me off too, but the numbers are right there in official black & white, can't argue with that!
Goes to show what pictures DON'T show!
Congrats Legacy! :)

Now NV4life's bulls, wow they have beautiful shape, sweet bulls!
Too bad them brows are broke off, there's prolly about 40" gone there!
The repair job is making him look what he REALLY is, a true 385-390 bull!

RE: big bull pics...350

I would have to say I admire the bravery of any man or women who would post a picture on Monster Muley.........

RE: big bull pics...350

Hey guys, I appreciate all of the photos!! Regardless of the critism.

I studied a half dozen elk videos last year before my hunt just to be able to rough score of the hoof. I thought I had gotten pretty good after the first 2 videos cause I was on a roll where I guessed about 8 bulls in a row within 10". Then I missed a couple by more than 30". This was after watching up to 3 minutes of video of each bull while relaxing in my living room.

What I'm saying is trying to judge a bull by ONE field photo and then questioning someone is assinine.

Some of the bulls I liked the best weren't even the biggest. I love the mass on NV4Life's dad's bull and the brows on BuzzH's Wyoming bull. They were all great.

RE: big bull pics...350

Normally I would have to say that score sheet was photo shopped, but I will be nice and not push any buttons. I don't ever question scores cuz I could care less. I think that busted brow bull is the best on here and to me he has the look of a 390 bull and is by far the best bull on here. I kinda score based on what an elk would score as a straight 6 and that dude is awesome. I also thot spider sucked and called him a 350 type 6 by bull cuz he just sucked! But then again I really hate NT's. I would also take skullcrazy's comments with a grain of salt. I sent him pics of me holding my biggest bull yet and he said 368 my arse! maybe 330 if your lucky! And I thought we were friends. Just goes to show you how quickly power will turn someone against you huh.

RE: big bull pics...350

what the heck, here's the bull. And for those of you wondering he gets all his score from his main beams. So if you are looking for a 400 he's gotta have 60 inch beams.
this pic was about 6 years ago. I was 6'4" about 215 if that helps.

Here's his break down.
right side left side
g1-16 17
g2-16 16
g3-13 13
g4-15 18
g5-18 12
g6-0 2
main beam 57 58
mass 55
width 42
total 368 nt 366 typical gross

4a2c65656b5cc7a1.jpg

remember, skullcrazy guessed him between 320 and 330! all I got to say is main beams are a beeotch! lol

LAST EDITED ON Jun-07-09 AT 08:25PM (MST)[p]Hey why you picking on me stinky, we're STILL going to be shooting bulls like that with the paintballs on your hunt this fall!!

And what's the "nt" on the score there, there aint nothing non-typical about that bull, that extra point 2" is an inline typical point ;-)

RE: big bull pics...350

Yeah, I definately have nothing to prove (especially on MM!) and honestly I don't care what the score sheet says. I've been around here long enough to know when to open my mouth and when to shut up! Daxter, here ya go (sorry about the poor picture!).

RE: big bull pics...350

For gods sake legacy could you not find a bull with bigger 3rds??? I'm suprised you didn't get that bull confiscated. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't your tag suppose to be for an elk, not a horse! lol please tell me thats basically a 360 to 370 5x5, cuz i have wet dreams about monster 5x's

LOL! Yeah, the thirds are what makes this bull. If you haven't read this post from the beginning, you need to go back to post #7 and read from there (the pic in post #7 IS this bull and the score sheet later on is this bulls measurements). It's somewhat entertaining! :)

RE: big bull pics...350

legacy, that's the same bull everyone was calling a 330? I thot it was 320ish! but to call that bull a 340 from the last pic I say BS! That looks like a 370 bull solid! Danged nice bull. Still, it's basically a 5x5. 340 on a 5x is like a 370 6x6. thats a big freakin bull

RE: big bull pics...350

I think what threw most people off about Legacys Bull was the arrow sitting in the rack, but if you look its sitting right at the base of his G3, and in the the front view picture he gets much, much wider after his G4. That side view pic just does not do him justice!!

Anybody remember the pics posted a few years ago of that Bull out near Stansbury? Even the professional guides were calling him a 320-330 wimp, and "we don't shoot those on my unit". He went something like 380 after it was all said and done. I think Tuff posted the live pics if I remember correctly....

RE: big bull pics...350

How come nobody is posting what units these bad boys are from??

Is it that big of a secret??

It would be interesting to see the different gene pools!!!

RE: big bull pics...350

Hey Buzz nice bulls. I have a couple questions about your AZ bull:
By general tag do you mean the OTC tag for elk in "unwanted" and low population areas?
Looks like some nasty country. Was it on private property?
AZGF added some area in my neck of the woods for the OTC elk area and since I didnt get drawn (go figure) I was thinking about getting a tag.
How was your hunt?
Jeff

RE: big bull pics...350

I won't because the units I get my biggest bulls from aren't very well known and the draw odds aren't too bad. So hopefully one day I will draw a tag instead of having to buy one. But that's never gonna happen. I predict zero draw for me again this year. Sweeeeeet!

RE: big bull pics...350

Nice bull! How in the crap did you get that thing out of that area? Did you call the family and tell them to bring a fork???

RE: big bull pics...350

I'm guessing 290 to 295ish????? I would dare say he breaks 300 but I'm just not feelin it with that bull. Your like 5'5" 115lbs right? That was a good attempt to try and make him look bigger though. I'd have to have let that one walk. They need to at least be of breeding age before you shoot them.

4a1df3ee0ef8dc53.jpg

RE: big bull pics...350

Well you over shot him on score. I guess the pics just make him look bigger than he is. He only goes 280 or so. He still had a little milk on his chin even.

Haha, it takes some balls to put up these photoshopped deals on here. All yall folks is doing is ruining your rep, most the folks on here have educated enough eyes when it comes to wildlife to call your bluffs! lol, This is funny though!

LAST EDITED ON Jun-13-09 AT 02:39PM (MST)[p]I am going to tell you, but this being my third post on here I do not think that most you will believe me. We kill these bulls in unit 62. My father started hunting in this area back in 1967, my brother and I were born in 70 and 71, we grew up on the Unc and really don't know anything else except chasing elk, deer, bears and everything else that is legal to chase. I have been hanging around this forum for about 7 months and I enjoy reading alot of what you guys have to say. Here are a few more bulls we have taken that woulld just brake the 300" mark if not all busted up by the bigger bulls.

RE: big bull pics...350

That is a bullet hole in the antler, there is also another bullet hole in the same antler in the base. After I tried unsuccessfully to push this bull out of where he was hiding. I met up with my brothers long time friend Scott (who also was part of the sniper team when he worked with my brother at Rifle Correctional Center) and his wife and I let them know I was going to keep heading down to meet the others and they sad they would stay there. They had been sitting in a spot where I was trying to push the bull through, around 11:00 a.m. when most of the other hunters were headed back to camp the 363 bull, five raghorns and, twenty-three cows and calves started coming by. Scott's wife had to wake him up, he started shooting at the bull with a rifle he borrowed from his dad (always a big mistake), he shot seven times and then borrowed his wifes .270 and shot the bull three times to put him down. The longest shot was about 305 yards. I think a little bit of elk fever was part it, he had never seen a bull that big on the hoof.
