general elk tactics question

when hunting a new area with creek coming off the divide and several other creeks feeding into it, what would you guys do on the first morning? get high above timberline and glass, slip along one of the creek bottoms, etc.?

That would depend on what I saw the last 3 mornings while SCOUTING the area.

If you hunt any area without some prehunt info, you are inviting serious disappointment.

If you had no choice, get as high as you can, with as much viewing area as possible.......watch and wait.

bring fishing pole and fish those tributaries when u cant find the elk.

I would be down in the middle of it. They were probably feeding on the tops. Thermals will be going down so you need to be under them.
