Wyoming G hunt

In my post on muscle soreness, I was told that I should share my hunting experiences instead of discussing the finer points of lactic acid buildup. So anyway, I drew out for G with a friend, never hunted there in my life, but was told we had an old guide who would take care of everything (family of my friend). Turned out he hadn't guided for 15 years, knew some good country, but hunting style was hike till you drop and he could only hunt on the weekend (luckily). So basically after a long drive from Phoenix, the first 5 days of the hunt ended up being a scouting/hike til we drop expedition, and the last 3 were actually hunting days. The last 3 days we saw 7 bucks from the 25 to maybe pushing 28 inch range with high heavy antlers and 4 other bucks in the 20-25 inch range. After a perfectly messed up stalk, with my friend set up on the escape route he missed a 200 yd shot at the largest buck that we saw on the hunt. The last day of the hunt my friend shot a 23 inch 5X5 at 500 yds with my Sako 300 WSM. We had watched him for 3 days, always in the same place and he shot him to show the kids and get some jerky. I made a a stalk to within about 20 yds on a wall hanger with a cheater on the rt side on the same day. The deer had moved and bedded and I stood there above him for 10-15 minutes getting hand signals from my buddy when he finally bolted, what would have been the easiest shot of my life, became my last hope of harvesting a wyoming buck this year.
Well I hope that helps appease those lactic acid lovers. My next deer hunt is in Utah a couple of weeks away. If the stars are lined up next year and I draw in G, I'll be telling a different story.

Happy huntin

Nice Bucks! The unit is an incredible place to hunt. Were you with an outfitter or are you the outfitter with the big wall tent in the background?
