We've got three tags for the 3rd season unit 54. I would appriciate any info about the area: where to hunt, location of the deer during the first of november, etc. Thanks for your help

Hunt the mesa top around cottonwood.Go up Curracante Creek trail if weather allows.Head to the south of the creek and get to the mesa top.If weather comes in they love the south slopes in that area.Read your map. Some private land off the national forest to the west and south around Cottonwood mesa.Lots of great meadows, pick a spot and good luck.

thanks for your help 10 days until the hunt and I can't get any sleep good luck to everybody

I'm going to be hunting this unit for 4th season elk. Does anyone know anything about this unit for elk at all?? Any insight would be very helpful! Thanks!!

Just got back from Gunnison,2nd season, scored on a 181 gross 5x5 .Tough hunt on the 2nd season.I hear from the locals the 3rd season is a totally different hunt. There are some monsters in 54. PM me if you need more info.

good luck on your hunt. We horsed into the wilderness in 54 1st elk season. We saw quite a few deer but nothing huge. We were up 9,500 and above. Other hunters we talked to camped and hunting south along curecanti saw lots of bucks too but nothing huge. have fun

I was just wondering, when you got the 5x5, I'm assuming this is a muley? Did you happen to see any elk while up there? I'm hunting elk 4th season and was thinking about hunting red creek, castle creek and mill creek. Do you have any clue where rainbow lake is? I've heard about this area, but can't seem to find it on a map. Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks alot!
