Elk hunting every year is my way to release.
Let me tell you from the moment i get back from my hunt, I start to wind up for the next year.
Some where around week 24 I get the gidders,
and now only 10 weeks out my skin is starting to shiver.
just got back from a 10 day fishing flyin in Canada, supper time, but kept thinking about gettin my sight mounted on my new BowTech 82nd Airborne,
witch I bought just befor going fishing, like the day before.
ya I got it set last night.
shes one killing machine. wow. 1 pin out to 30 yds,
one set for 40, 50, 60, & 70.
Now in 2 weeks I'll put those to a test, shooting in the Iowa Games.
40,50, & 60, yd targets.
last year I took 2nd place.
this year I'm shooting for first.
Back to whats really important- elk hunting.
You guys started to gear up.
I have a couple 3 other men going out with me this year.
But the problem is i just found out today that the privet land we had access to was given out to another rancher to ranch.
with that being said so went my hunting area.
looks like I'm going to do a scouting trip here come mid of august.
I've go a couple of old fathfull spots in some wilderness areas but they take horses to access,
and again this year i'm with out horses.
I been on google earth and the colorado unit maps, with both side by side on the screen, looking for likely areas,
its tough but a good way to get the feel for the property with out accually standing on the ground.
my neck hair stands on end as i type this, just thinking about my areas I looked at and the probility of finding us all likely bulls.
Most are a good hike in. being in my 80s nearly totally crippled, one armed and with a glass eye, i don't think it's much of a problem.
Just funning you with the latter, the glass eye.
I'm blind.
any hoo, sure looking forward to the hunt.
this will be my 16th trip out there to you state to elk hunt.
And its surely pure pleasure.
I'll try not ot matter much on this forurm, been there done that early on.
I still haven't learned to spell all the gooder yet either.
So to most of you that count ( good luck this year and be safe)
