I have just recently moved up to northern Utah from St. George(the land of milk and honey and big 'ol bucks...). I have spent my whole life down there and i don't know a jack-squat about where to start looking for elk.
I was considering buying an open bull muzzleloader tag. If anyone would be willing to give me any info as to what areas (generally speaking) don't have an insane amount of hunting pressure, and still have an elk or two, I would be very grateful.

UT,
The open bull(any) can be very difficult. In the north region you could look Monte Cristo off of lightning Ridge or Dairy Ridge. You also might want to look at the spike only units....

Might want to look at the muzz elk odds before you commit. One of these years there will be a gigantic snow storm at the end of October and those with muzz elk tag will be sitting pretty, otherwise you'll bet much better off with a rifle.

Crowds are smaller on the elk hunt than the deer hunt.

Go high and glass, you'll find find them with some time.
