I am heading out for one last scouting strip before the season opens on the 10th. I was just wondering if any body had any information on any areas I should check out.I would also like to know what class of deer I should hold out for. I will be hunting for 11 days if needed.

Thank you
jeremie

I have been hunting antelope on the unit 42 side of Mud Flat Road and my brotgher and I went ahead and bought a general deer tag. While I did not hunt much on the unit 40 side for deer I did see one nice large 4X3 about 26" wide near juniper station. He was with a small forky which my brother missed, but he later connected with a nice 2X3 on the unit 42 side. We saw bucks every day in this general area. We honestly saw more deer in the open sage areas than we did in the juniper mahogany (sp?) areas. If you want anymore detailed info PM me and I'll see what I can help you with.

I saw quite a few good bucks in the Antelope Ridge area while antelope hunting. In fact, I was going to hunt the zone until I read that it was a draw area with a 2-point restriction for the general. PM if you want more specific info.

I am headed down that way on the 5th and 6th to see what the animals are doing. I had the tag a few years ago....without weather it is tough to find a decent buck...but it can be done...There should be some snow on the ground by the end of the season though.
Alot of people that hunt the unit mainly just drive the roads...from time to time you will catch a big buck chasing a doe off the road....I have seen some pigs just off main roads during that part of the year.
Antelope ridge road is a good one if it is still driveable during the hunt....once some moisture hits that road it becomes sloppy and not a fun ride....but there are some monster bucks that live around that area...The biggest buck that I seen on my hunt was pretty close to that area...and he was an absolute toad.
I will let you know what I see and maybe give you an area or two that you might want to check out.
Good luck scouting!
