You elk hunters ever hunted the White Flatops?
What wheather conditions would you expect to see the mid. of September?
Do you sit on water holes or call and stock?
Did or do you hunt privet land or public?
Do you arrow the first oppertunity, or hold out?
Are you hunting the buddy system? One hunts and the other calls.
How close do you let the elk come in?
Just a few questions.
I'm concidering hunting up that way this year, and taking a couple othe guys in, we'll be bow hunting.

Hunt hard and be safe.

I have hunted the Flat Tops a few times with muzzleloader. We did a drop camp hunt and hunted wallows with 50% success ,one 4X5 and two 5X5 in 4 trips.Lots of elk and also lots of elk hunters. All were taken within bow range, one at 10 yards.Good Luck.

I had a large group of hunters that used to hunt that area. They have since moved on as there were just too many hunters and outfitters. They did take quite a few elk out of there during the archery hunts. A few nice ones too, but that was about five years ago.

There is an area west of yampa that is open -over the counter.
and is quite good.
a little tough to get into but a great spot.
in 5 years I have shot out 3 nice bulls.
last year got over ran with bow hunters, go figure,
some how the word got out.
I'm now looking at either 211 or 441,
need some insight on what i can expect.

If you got over ran so did they(other hunters) I would go back I'm thinking those guys might not be back if they didn't see or kill anything, You have so you know whats there.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

If you hunted public land ,then it gets alot of pressure anywhere you find elk.If you shot three elk in 5 years ,stay with it,you are far better than average.
