Just wanted to see if any one was back yet or if anyone has heard of any good bucks comming out of 55 yet. I'm heading out to look around this weekend. See where the pressure has put them. I think I'm going to focus on the NE side of C butte, and NW of C butte.

I hunted the second season and got a nice buck. I a couple of dandies at the game and fish office for the cwd check. I hunted up lost canyon. Brian

I didn't have a lot of time, so I wasn't to choosy. There was a bit of pressure from elk hunters, but I don't think it seemed to pressure the deer much. I can email you a picture if you would like. Brian

Sheepguide,
May God bless you on your Monster Muley hunt. Take a lot of photos and hold out for whopper.

I've been watching below CB but it don't look like the snow is comming any time soon the BLM south and east of gunnison is holding a couple of nice ones.

Jeff thanks we'll look at pictures over a cup of coffee.

SheepGuide,

I scouted Cement Creek last weekend. Saw 2 bucks that I thought would go 160+ and some 150 classers.

I'm heading out tomorrow morning (Saturday) early to see what else I can find. Just pray for snow up high. I think the MONSTERS are in the high dark timber.

That's exactly what I was seeing up cement creek did you make it up to crystal peak or hunters hill?

I have talked to folks that hunted second season and live in town and all say there are plenty of bucks, but very few big bucks. Third season will probably not be as good as last year as second season was no where close to last year. I've heard a lot of different reasons, but probably the bigger bucks are in the middle zones where it's tough to find them. Plan on working very hard to see a 180" + buck...Steve

I just got back from 2nd season in the Gunnison basin, and I can tell you this area is still a hunt. Despite the picture Garth C., Ryan H.,Alan P., and others painted, this wasn't a piegon shoot for 200 inch bucks. I hope a lot of guys learned there lesson after this year on the over priced vouchers.

Anybody that thinks 200" bucks are running ramped around Gunnison obviously haven't been over there. I've put in a solid 30 days scouting and these are not consecutive but from aug to last weekend and it is still going to be a hunt, and maybe some luck will help.

Sheepguide,

I stayed pretty lower in Cement Creek, only because I had my 3 year old son with me.

Scouted southeast of Gunnison Saturday. I saw about 15 bucks, but NONE over 150 class. Found some good places to glass though. It snowed on me, which is encouraging.
