moon phase

The full moon will cause a massive elk migration. Everything heads straight for DUTTON! ;-)

hahaha so what your saying is i need to sit on the east end of panguitch and intercept the migration to the dutton?

Bingo! If I had your tag I would hunt the low lying cedar coutry north of Panguitch from Panguitch to 20. I probably wouldnt get one, but that is what I would do!;-)

They will be done feeding by the crack of dawn. This shortens your window in the morning by and hour. imo

last year we ran into them at 4:00 am, we were headed for the top hopping to be here before they came up.
not so. they were already up at the top milling and headed for bed.

Killed my 2008 bull on a full moon day. The Elk didn't act any different than they had for the 10 days prior.

I'm not buying the Moon Phase VooDoo

I have to agree with Bob......When your eyes are the size of tennis balls, I pretty much don't think you care about the moonlit nights.

It just makes it easier to see and they react accordingly.

Most great outfitters agree on the benefits of moon phase. They are nocturnal creatures mostly. If they can find and see ample feed during the night they will be full by daybreak. I have seen them heading to bed at 7am. I have seen them on cloud covered nights feed to 9:30am. Sure you can kill a elk anytime. Overall, full moon is less a benefit, especially on the early hunt if its hot.

I had an Az. bow bull tag last year.

It was so freaking bright at 0430 when I got up==== that I didn't need any light.

The place was alive with elk.

By first horizion to the east--say 0645--0700 everything was toatally DEAD....

I really do feel that the full moon all night long-----certainly plays into the elk activity.

There were 10 bulls bugling when I shot mine around 9:00 am. Full moon the night before. They continued bugling till they were out of ear shot.

If a guy wants to believe the Voodoo great, but really, are you going to stay in bed? Honestly, would you pick the early part of the month over the last week based on Moon Phase?
