I drew a unit 22 south muzzleloader bull tag in Arizona for late September. I spent a week in Payson scouting this summer but am still trying to collect as much information about the area as possible. Can anyone help me out? I'm not familiar with this unit and could use some direction. Thanks in advance.

i would make sure to be camping a few weekends before the hunt and hte bulls should be very vocal....if you aren't hearing bugling at night and early am then you're in the wrong spot. assuming it'll be dry, i would concentrate around water.....definately think the pines is where you want to be....will be too hot for them to drop into juniper country.

depending on weather you can catch some post rut action which is nice.

Try around thompson draw, all the way to Earnhart ranch. The bulls will be screaming and rutting hard in late September. Good luck.

Scout and find waterholes that have tracks around them and setup on those ponds that are being used. The bulls will be with the cows so find the cows. But it a type of unit you have to scout to find out where in the unit they are.
