Ok, I was going to wait until I had the better field photos however, I am not sure when I will get those.. A friend came up to help after I killed this buck and took them on his camera. These pictures are taken off the video camera.

So, the story is.....

I hunted everyday of the hunt this year. I didn't see alot of bucks and what I was seeing were smaller deer. So thursday and friday it stormed here in Utah. Saturday morning I decided it was now or never. The rain/snow finally quit.

I went to my normal area, and started glassing as it got light. I saw alot of doe's and I knew I was seeing more deer. I decided I needed to startmoving at the top of the ridges and looking into as many as I could before the deer started to bed. One the third canyon, there was my buck. He was all alone and was moving up hill. I made a quik shot and it was true, However, he started to go deeper into the canyon and I shot once more and down he went.

Here are some of the pics. I wish I had the better pics to post here, But these will have to do. The last pic is the imfamous "phone" picture that started the rumors.

The buck score's 191. I keep reading on this site that saying "I'd rather be lucky then good". AMEN to whoever says that!

One more thing I wanted to add. I didn't draw a tag this year. I was called by a friend who had a sfw rifle deer voucher. I guess those are auctioned at the banquet and this one wasnt paid for. I bought the voucher and took it to the DWR officer and got the tag.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-30-05 AT 12:03PM (MST)[p]High, and deep. That is one heck of a buck! Congrats to you on great buck. What is his width? His G4's seem to be the widest going 26-28ish. Man those are some great forks! That is one of the better deer I have seen this year. Again, congrats to you Brandon!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-30-05 AT 12:19PM (MST)[p]kilo, your a funny, funny man! heh, thing is, my wife says the same thing to me. She even said "want your hat" when she took the phone picture. Dang, this bald noggin!

Tony, I was shooting an old model 700 30-06 my father gave me as a gift. He used that gun during his days. I wouldnt give that gun to anyone other than my kids. It means alot to me and even more now that I have fulfilled my dreams with this buck. I remember reading the post of your buck and looking at those forks and thinking, "wow, super buck, look at those forks".

wfm,
Widest spread was 29 inches with the cheater. main frame is just over 26 and his inside is 20.

Thanks everyone for the nice words.. Sure has been a great year for bucks.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-30-05 AT 01:47PM (MST)[p]sfw means sportsmans for fish and wildlife. There links are all over this site. They held a banquet this year and auctioned off general tags to people who didnt draw. One wasnt paid for and was offered to me through a friend. This buck is a general season Utah rifle buck shot on public ground. NO CWMU or private property.
