Here are some trail cam pics I just pulled off one of our cameras last night. None of the bulls are shooters for my hunt, but pretty cool pics nonetheless.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think this first bull would score? He is the biggest bull to show up in this spot so far.

I did glass two much bigger bulls after checking the camera including one bull pushing 340-350 that had started shedding velvet already with some strands hanging. It is getting close!!

Enjoy,

Cory

I was thinking in the low 300 range as well with weak 3rds and smaller length in the back end as well.

Carbonnation - this is the Wasatch unit. I have an any weapon tag.

I'm guessing 305 tops. Weak thirds, mass is average, but a nice looking bull. Give him a few more years and he's worth another look at.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-06-09 AT 09:32AM (MST)[p]The first (six-point) has different genes than the next couple of pictures, and his genes will eventually take him to being a higher scoring animal than the second bull will ever be!! Unfortunately looks like they will always have weak thirds!!

I put both bulls right around 305ish. One has better length and one has better mass!!

This spot that you have, I will bet has a big one hanging close by, as most of those bulls look young to me.

That is funny Jim!! I think I have ten times that already invested in gas alone for scouting trips on this tag. Not to mention all the money

I am glad no one ever breaks down how much money is spent on a highly anticipated hunt -it would probably be quite a shocker, but it is worth it at the end of the day :) I know I am having fun and the hunt hasn't even started yet!

If you find that "one" bull again anytime soon, let me know ;-)

To finish my sentence above - not to mention all the money spent on testing handloads, new camo and other gear, but that is all part of the fun and a good excuse for getting cool new stuff!

When I had my Wasatch tag a few years ago I kept track of the money I spent. It cost me a little over $4000. That included food, gas, time off from work, gear, etc. Imagine what it would have cost if I would have hired myself to guide me!

It's always an adventure!!!

I would guess that is about right when all is said and done - you would have had to triple that to hire yourself as the guide :)

A lot of money, but it is the best way I can think of to spend some hard earned cash!

By the way, "the one" is right where I told Chad he would be. Apparently he has made the trek a little early this year. If he is not on the trough, he will be in that vicinity. There is another water hole/wallo that is over the ridge to the South and more towards the bottom of the draw. It is a draw that is solid pines and the only way to find this hole is to walk the bottom and smell. It reaks of elk and sits about 50 yards off the bottom on the south facing side of the draw.

It's always an adventure!!!
