No matter what we all think will happen or not happen to this hunt in 2004, how did you all do this year? What unit did you concentrate on? Where the bulls vocal? Etc, Etc, Etc,
I have heard of a few successes, so let's hear it!

Hey Elkslayer,

I talked to two guys that drew this year and neither shot at or hit an animal. The one guy said he saw a ton of nice bulls but couldn't get close enought for a shot. I said "welcome to bowhunting".

He was asking me about hunting elk on the Wasatch front now, LOL. He didn't seem like much of a bowhunter, but one of the classic guys who can't put in for the rifle or just decided to try the odds in the AR301.

Cheers,
PEte

We will post the results of the Ar 301 Survey as soon as we get in touch with those hunters who did not return thier survey. I do know that some really nice bulls have been taken so far and I think we are at about the same amount of bulls taken last year. The biggest bull that I am aware of came off the wasatch and it is a 8x7.

Dianna,
Thanks for the survey. I filled #217 out yesterday but I've yet to mail it, hopefully tonight. I had a great hunt, not only because I tagged my first elk with a bow, but because my cousin from California was along with a tag as well. He had three good opportunities and actually had two good shots but missed them both. We hunted both the Boulder and the Dutton and were in elk on both units. I ended up taking a 316 bull on the 5th of Sept, I'll post a pic when I get a chance. If possible could you give me some info on UBA? I'd like to do what I can to help support any and all organizations that promote responsible hunting. This hunt in my opinion is a great hunt. One that enables many more hunters the opportunity to hunt mature elk during the rut. They should leave it alone or even expand the hunt to give more people the opportunity we enjoyed. Thanks again for the survey, Fstop

The hunt was alot of fun. The elk where I hunted were not real vocal until the 2nd week, but the hot weather made it perfect for hunting over a water hole. I shot a bull that green scored 334, while hunting the wasatch unit. Thanks to all who have made this hunt possible. Hopefully it will continue, and I hope others can experience it one day also.

Fstop..go to www.utahbowmen.org Hopefully the website has been updated by now if not please click on Clint's name on the board of directors and it will link you to his email. UBA has had some problems in the past but we are trying real hard to turn things around for the better. We just had a very successful jamboree this past july and raised some really awesome funds for the bowhunter Committee!

If you cant reach Clint try emailing us at home with any questions. [email protected]
