LAST EDITED ON Nov-03-05 AT 08:12PM (MST)[p]Here he is. I shot him on the last day of the season. I saw several bucks like this one. I was trying for his grandpa, but grandpa was way too damn smart. Maybe next year. He has a 27" 5x6 main frame. Happy Hunting to all.

wow what a nice buck,

hey haven't I seen your picture with an archery buck, taken on top of a kind of reddish mountain?

is that a cwmu you hunt over there in extreme north eastern utah? or just private property?

I agree with everyone else, that's a great deer, and I woulnd't have had to think twice.

Yes, I killed a 9x6 with my bow in 2003. He was feeding in private, and bedding in BLM.

This years buck was in a whole different area. BLM land. The rut started full swing right after that cold front came through on OCT 28th. You should have seen grandpa!! Real smart ole buck. He bedded all by himself. He would almost never be caught in the open daylight. Grandpa was one of the smartest bucks I have had the opportunity to hunt. Grandpa will make the BOOK!!!

I should have taken some very old and wise advise. When I first jumped grandpa out of the cedars, he did a complete circle around the mountain top. He came right back to where I first jumped him. If only I would have went to the left and cut him off circling back around. And that common knowledge has been around forever. I guess I didn't expect him to do that, being I made him piss and sh_t himself when I jumped him at 10 yards in the cedars.

Good looking buck Rob, at least you have a buck picked out for next year already, now if you can get a picture or 2 of him and man is scouting for next year funny or what. Hope you get the big one next time around. Outplay and Outwit them.

The only words I can think of for that buck is "Elegant Monarch", don't ask me why, but that body and head is just..."elegant" way to go! congrats!

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

Phantomlord,
I had binos, range finder, back pack, folding seat, shooting sticks, gun, hunter orange "everything but the kitchen sink on". I took it all off for the photos and in order to man handle this beast. I had to do it all alone, as I was hunting by myself once again. Sucks being single with nothing to do but HUNT!!!

Michael,
Yes, this in one good looking buck. And not too mention his size. Reminds me of a english bull dog. Small rump, and massive front end. It was hard not to mount the head. I traded the cape for a euro mount. I have way too many bucks this size on the wall. I told myself I won't mount another deer head unless it makes B&C.

Congrats on the buck. Sorry to hear about Nevada. And thanks for all the help on the Moose hunt. Wish I would have held out, we saw some HUGE bulls toward the end of the hunt, just couldn't take the pressure, but got a good bull. Nice buck again, and we'll have to talk about that NE Utah archery tag, maybe that could work out. Headed to 13A in a week, hope I get a great one.

Jason,

Hold out for at least a 200" buck on 13A. You will see at least one during your hunt. I hope I'm next for a strip tag. I'm maxed on points including a hunter safety point. Knowing you drew with 0 "ZERO" points, makes me want to "PUKE"!!! You lucky dog. Kill a big one for me.

Phantomlord,

Don't know a Brian, however, there are a lot of relatives I don't know very well, as so it is possible I am related.

Way too many bucks like this on your wall.....That sucks! :) I don't know what I'd do if I had too many 180 class bucks on my wall. :) That's an Awesome buck man, I'd be proud of it. I remember your archery buck....the famous "arrow still in it" picture, LOL....that was a friggin' dandy too. Congrats to ya and good luck finding your Book Buck.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-11-05 AT 01:12AM (MST)[p]MANNN, I hunted 8 days straight, slept in the front seat of my SUV, and I still want to go right back out after big bucks. Anyone heard about any pigs being shot on the AZ strip yet??
