Thanks.

I am not sure which manufacturer? I will say I recently, a few years back, switched to Scirocco and Accubonds in a 300 and 270 handloading. These bonded bullets are outstanding IMO. Try one of those in a factory load and see if it groups. Anything bonded should perform about the same. The Partitions are also tried, tested, and proven as another option.

I use Federal 140 gr. BTSP's. Some would say its a light load for elk but I have found it very effective. Every elk I've shot has dropped right in its tracks. As long as your not trying to shoot over 400 or 500 yds you should be good.

For a factory elk load in .270, I think you'd be hard pressed to beat the Federal Premium with 150 grain Nosler Partitions. We've used these with excellent results shooting a .270 on game up to and including elk, zebra, kudu, and similar animals.

I've been using the 150 grain Federal Fusion with good success. It's a VERY flat flying bullet that packs a major punch. It dumped my big bull last year instantly - didn't take a step (video at http://www.monsterhuntclips.com/video/461/Northern-Utah-Bull).

Just be sure to practice out to your comfortable range with whatever ammo you choose. The .270 is quite susceptible to trajectory changes with different ammo.

For sure Federal Premium 150Gr. Nosler Partition. They have worked very well for me on elk and barbary sheep.

Federal Premium 140 grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claw. There is no better elk bullet, especially in a 270 win.

I shoot the Federal premium 140gr Accubonds with outstanding results. Just choose a good bonded bullet and you should be fine!
